OH bought back a brace of pheasant just cooked it .. I love pheasant but is it safe to eat game meat whilst pregnant.?

I believe so, I ate it with my first (I hate game but my in laws cook loads so I ate it un duress lol)

Oh i love it if it's not hung for too long like a week or so the meat is not to harsh but it tastes abit like turkey with cranberry sauce :)

I eat a lot of game as I'm vegi the rest of the year (based on objections to mass farming/slaughter) we get game from the land around our house.

Just make sure you don't eat any shot that's left in (not that you'd want to!!!) don't suppose lead is good for baby!!

Oh said that its illegal to use lead shot:wacko: and they are especially farmed pheasant local resource as well

Id say it was fine to eat. By the way their is lead in shotgun pellets which i think mumtodogs was referring to x

It's only illegal in certain areas ie wetland, and/or for certain game, like duck.

If you're not sure about your shoot area or bird countryside alliance has info on their website x

It's really up to you, I eat it, I always have done, but you have to feel comfortable. Maybe just make sure you give each piece a good chew! :-)

It's fine, I can't see any reason why it would be a problem. Obviously make sure it's cooked through as like you would everything, x

We had a good hunting season this year. And I eat game at least once a week. My guess is there is probly steel shot, not led. Deff should be okay :)

I believe as long as its not lead shot it should be ok! I really wish they'd do away with lead bullets.

I've been reading If stripped when cooked you can generally locate if there is any lead from the ricochet but The man my partner gets the pheasant from says they don't use lead shot anyway Ill let you know what it tastes like tomorrow ladies :haha:

Now I want some pheasant!!! *nom nom nom*
