Does anyone know where you can get salt free gravy? I'm sure my LO's purees would taste a bit nicer with gravy. My mum said the low salt stuff is fine, but I thought you can't give babies any salt until they are older.

Does eveyone avoid even the smallest amount of salt?

No idea where you would get it from, but i did see baby gravy in boots. They had a little area with baby pasta and rice, it was amongst them

Babies can have 1g of salt a day which is a tiny amount when you look at how much salt is actually in things.

I'm sure the puree taste fine to your Lo.

I often use formula or blue top milk in things, or u can get baby gravy or baby stock in most supermarkets, boots and the like.

It's okay for babies to have a LITTLE salt in their diet - in fact ourbodies need some salt. The trouble is that much of the processed food we eat has far too much salt in it.

I use the very low salt stock cubes for LO and I never add salt to general cooking. A little low salt gravy every now and then would I'm sure be okay.

Thanks for your answers. I make all her purees myself and never add salt. I'll try and find the baby gravy in boots.

I just thicken baby stock with a little cornflour or plain flour. Not for taste really, just to make a sauce if we're giving her roast dinner or something. Just mix a spoon of flour with hot water and add it to the stock until it's the thickness you need. HTH

P.S. My MIL said something about 'baby gravy' the other day and my OH and I were nearly sick laughing. Is it just us or does it sound like a euphamism for something? MIL didn't get it!

I think I saw low salt gravy in Asda.

eta: yeah, read the OP proper now. I agree with other posters that it would be ok to give LO a tiny amount of salt.

That just made me spit my tea across the room!
