So I wasn't quite sure where to post this and completely forgot about this part of the forum. I need some advice or experiences if anyone has had similar please. Anything is appreciated.
Hi ladies,
This pregnancy seems to be one scare after another. I just came from the hospital after my doctor's appointment.
I had noticed the last few days that I had been passing really thick, stringy mucus and thought it a bit odd, but thought it was just the extra discharge everyone keeps talking about once in third trimester. I almost didn't tell my doctor. I am so glad I did. She checked me and said I had lost my mucus plug and I was starting to dilate and I was 1 cm right now. She said it is far too early to start dilating yet. So she sent me to the hospital to get monitored and get an ultrasound for my cervical length.
I get to the hospital and they hook me up to the machine and he was moving too much for 5 minutes to get his heart beat and the nurse goes, "WELL, we know he's fine" Anyhow, I wasn't showing contractions after 20 minutes on the machine and then they took me for the untrasound. Of course when I get on that table I had one but it wasn't monitored. The ultrasound tech took some lovely pictures as momentos for us because she rarely got to use a 3d machine and she was excited. I was more than happy to see my baby boy
Anyhow, I keep getting off track, but the results of the ultrasound showed that my cervix is slightly shortened at 2.9 cm (30% effaced).
Everything put together shows that I may go into preterm labor. This has me super scared and worried. I am trying to look at the bright side and keep telling myself everything will be alright and I got to see my baby boy on the ultrasound, but I can't shake that bad feeling.
I got back to the examination room and they hooked me back up for another 20 minutes and I didn't have another contraction, but I told them that I don't get the tightenings unless I've been walking or if I'm laying on my sides (they had me sitting at a slight decline). My doctor decided that I needed longer monitoring so I am coming in tomorrow for a longer NST. I also had to get a steroid injection today and will have another tomorrow to help mature my baby's lungs just in case.
I am wondering if any of you ladies have gone through or are going through something similar. I know just being 1 cm means nothing and it can stay that way for weeks, but all three together?
Also, can contractions just be in the lower abdomen? Kind of light an intense tightening (I kinda lose my breath) and pressure, but it's not exactly 'painful.'I do get slight painful twinges on either side of the lower pelvic bone area and directly in the middle but deep (where I would think my cervix is). I've had others where the entire stomach gets hard, but that's mostly when I am walking.
Thanks again for any responses. It is greatly appreciated.
