scan at 6 weeks yolk sac?

Hi looking from some advice. has an early scan today due to two prev MC. i though i was nearly 6 weeks but the doc said the scan shows 5+1, only preg sac and yolk sac seen. i have to go back in 12 days anyone had this and gone on to have healthy preg? thanks for help.

Is it possible your dates are off? My last cycle I ovulated 11 days later than I thought, so if I had gone in at 6 weeks from my LMP I wouldn't have seen much of anything. Don't panic yet!

From what I have read that sounds completely normal. I am 5 weeks 3 days and I am going for a early scan but they booked me in for when I am 7 weeks and said they don't do it earlier than that as it won't show much so no point. Congratulations and hope it goes well. X

Hi, I had a scan on Wed and thought I was 5+2 and they said 4+4 to 5wks and there was no yolk sac. I keep googling to see whats normal - its so hard not to be paranoid I totally understand your worry. I think it varies by person so try not to worry. Im also having to wait till 20th for next scan. Everything crossed for you x

I had a scan this morning just to make sure it was in my uterus because my last one was never located. I have another one in 2 weeks. I am so nervous! i just want to see the heart beat.

I had an early scan last Thursday. I think I was 5w6days and they think 6 weeks, wither way, they told me they were only expecting and wanting to see the yolk sac. In my case they did see the fetal pole, but they seemed genuinely surprised that they could so it sounds like there is a lot of space for growth in the 5-6week period. I would try not to worry. If you are still having pregnancy symptoms and no bleeding cramping etc then your little one could be just fine.

I hope time passes quickly and they find a strong heart beat at the follow up. Wishing you all the best.

I went for my first scan at what i thought i was 6 weeks - but was 5w 2d and they could only locate sacs, i was due to go back in 2 weeks (but couldnt wait) i went private 4 days later and there was the heartbeat!

Hi hun i had a scan at what i was 5+ 6days but thats from lmp!! I didnt ov till cd20 so when i actually had my scan i would of been 5w 2days an we could see a gestational sac an yolk sac all which i was told looked perfectly normal for 5+2 even after 4 losses she wanted to leave me until dec 22nd so i kept that scan but i go on wednesday to a london clinic that i was under i can let you no the outcome im praying i see a hb!!! Its so nerve wrecking!! x

Thanks o much for the replies. The waiting is a total nightmare i was tempted to get a private scan but terrifed it might still be too early, i will just wait it out until next tuesday. off work just now and the days are dragging in, one minute i am quite positive then the next i think there is def something wrong. would hate to get bad news at scan the week before xmas !!!

I was scanned weekly for this one after previous miscarriages for the first trimester (minimized my going bonkers over it a bit)... I've got a tilted uterus so I'm a nightmare to scan early on anyway - plus critter had picked the most inaccessible corner going to hole itself up into (like it's father - comfy corner and goes to sleep for all eternity).

First one at 5+4 showed just a sac and yolk sac - left to go away thinking history was repeating itself, second one at 6+4 had the fetal pole visible and what she was confident enough to mention to us as a probably heartbeat but couldn't commit 100%... took till 7+4 before we had a confirmed heartbeat found. Then the following week it was being in a particularly uncooperative mood and when she finally found it it had lost three days and was rocking up at 8+1 (she remeasured it until she managed to find us an extra day and put it back at 8+2) - cue me fretting for a good couple of weeks that it was starting to fail, before it was rescanned at 10+4, and then by the time of my 12 week scan I was scanning AHEAD of where I should have been related to dates and previous scan measurements and had gained three days!

Just to give you some idea of how much dates and what they can see can vary even after having a solid basis to date FROM!

hi all, i just wanted to update, i went back for my scan on 20 dec and straight away they found the baby with a hb, i was so so happy i never realised just how stressed i was about it. and did need to have an internal which i was dearing as the last time i was really sore after it.

so any one else who goes for an early scan and is worried a lot can change in 12 days. i have to go back again at 10 weeks for another scan, they are being really good giving me these scan.
