Hi everyone,

Just though I'd pop in from TTC, Hope you dont mind! Im on cd 133 of my cycle, and had a scan today to decided whether I have pcos or not!

I went to my appointment - but only had an abdominal scan not an internal one! Is this normal?

My Ovaries wern't enlarged and the person doing the scan didnt seem to think that they looked like I had pcos. The only thing is because I didn't have an internal one done, I just don't know If the abdominal one would be good enough to rule pcos out???

Has anyone else experienced this or have any words of wisdom for me please?

Im also not sure If I've had my first af or not either :dohh: I started spotting about a week ago, and for the past week Ive had a browny/pinky blood, not a major amount though just enough for a pantiliner really! What do you guys think, could my first af be really light after bcp?

Thanks Everyone and sorry if I ve gone on a bit!
:hugs:

I had an abdo USS first and sanogropher saw cysts. Then I went down the infertility route and they did all the indepth investigations which would include a vaginal USS. You may be referred for an internal one as they can pick out smaller ones? But even if you aren't refered i wouldnt worry about it. But wow 133 days is a loooong time!! And spotting is not a proper AF...sorry :( Hope you get to the bottom of it soon.

Thanks hun!

I hope so to! Just wish my body would hurry up and get on with it already!

Thanks

When I went for a scan, I had the abdominal scan and they then proceeded to do an internal and found I have PCO but not the syndrome. I do think if your sonographer saw anything of concern they would've proceeded to do an internal...

My first af after coming off the bcp (microgynon) 3 years ago was about 85 days, it does take quite some time for the body to regulate following an abrupt halt to the additional hormones you had been giving it via the pill! Some women can take 6 months to get the first af. You can't really check for PCOS until you have had 3 or 4 af's.

I'd say, don't fret. Sit it out, I know it's hard (believe me I do!) but if you result with regular af's after waiting patiently you can count yourself blessed as baby planning/making should be alot easier :)

Thanks brokenbits!

It's nice to have some feedback as I only have DH to talk to, so some female advice is great!

I will wait and see, am just a little impatient xx

hi, my gp refered me for a uss and internal as hadnt had af for almost a year!! when i went they only did a uss as she said it all looked normal to her ( she was a bit abrupt actually ) this was way back last year i went for a post coital test with the fertility nurse and she asked if i had an internal i explained wot had happened before so she did one and said it looked to her like pco, since then i have had a lap and dye and definatley have pcos.

if u r concerned about it i would speak to your gp and ask for an internal because if they had done my internal when they were suposed to i would have started treatment much sooner:dohh:

good luck, i sympathise with the long wait for :witch:

I just had a US Pelvic exam on Wenesday last week. This was for my infertility to see if they could spot anything like pcos.

Had the abdominal one done first and then an internal one.... spent some time on that one looking for my left ovary which had gone shy and hid the whole time :dohh: we never found it (apparently though very common). In summary though the lady doing it couldn't see anything wrong with me.

I wouldhave thought they would have done an internal though for you ?? perhaps check with your FS ?

:hugs:

Thanks Girls! Will bring it up with the GP in two weeks time when I go for my results!

Thanks for your replies, It's useful to get more information

Good Luck and speak to you all soon xx

When I had my scan she said everything looked ok so there was no point in doing the internal .. according to my Dr they only do that if the abdominal scan doesn't show up clearly.
On me they saw both ovaries clearly, uterus and tubes all looked clear.

Yep same thing happened to me too! They did an abdominal scan which they said is usually enough but on my abdominal scan it wasn't clear so they then did an internal. The internal scan they showed up cysts on my ovaries.
