Scans and measuring behind (still), need reassurance!

Hi Ladies,

Question for those who may have experienced something similar.
At my initial dating scan about about 2 months ago baby was measuring 6+5 (should have been 7+1/7+2)...lots of people told me not to worry baby will catch up.
Fast forward to this past week, went in for my NT scan, baby still was measuring about 3 days behind at 12+6 (should have been 13+2/13+3).
I'm sure of my ovulation dates although initial hcg levels took a bit to rise (mb implantation took its time?).

Anyway anyone who's baby consistently measured a few days behind and didn't really catch up but is still healthy and well?

I'm a bit worried need some reassurance.

DD measured 9 days behind and still had to be evicted at 41 weeks based off the adjusted due date. She's perfectly healthy. :)

I've been measuring about two weeks behind with this one as well (although midwife refuses to change the date), but everything looks great. I'm on the smaller side, so I think I just make smaller babies!

Thanks for the response good to know it can be normal. Were you pretty sure of when you ovulated?

I'm very sure of when I ovulated yet have been put 2 days forward at my scan today, last pregnancy again I as pretty sure yet was put back a couple of days, although I can't remember exactly how many. I really don't think it's nothing to worry about and probably has more to do with when baby implanted. :)

Me! This baby was 3-4 days behind at 7 weeks, 8-9 weeks and by my 12 week ultrasound baby jumped to a week ahead! And now OB tells me it's gonna be a big baby! I was soooo worried in first trimester bc none of my others measured behind ever. But this baby caught up so much. I wouldn't worry, 3 days is nothing.

Mine both measured behind! With my first doctors would not adjust the dates even when he measured bigger at later scans and he was born at 42+5 thanks to it :/.
This one measured almost two weeks behind and caught up by ten weeks and then measured bigger at each US.

3 days behind? I wouldn't worry at all. My first was behind, he was just a smaller baby when he was born (6 pounds), but healthy, even born at home with perfect apgar scores.

Now at 3 years old he is HUGE, the size of a 5 year old!

Thank you for all the responses. I guess I'm worried cause I see all these posts where babies catch up but mine hasn't (and maybe wont).
None of my other 3 ever measured behind, but I assume the good thing is the growth has been consistent form week 6 to week 12?

3 days is nothing !

I am concerned about my 20 week scan on Thursday because at 6 week I was 5+3 and then at 7 week measures 6 week then 10.5 weeks I measured 11 week but at 13week scan I measured 12.4 !

Am defo smaller than usual 3rd baby as well so abit worried !

Am sure you will be fine Hun though x

I think this is absolutely the main thing, that there is consistent growth and nothing to worry about :hugs:

Yep! I had a weird two week cycle before that cycle, so I bought some OPK strips just to make sure I was ovulating still. LMP was 7/31, positive OPK early on 8/18, and positive FRER on 8/27 (5 days before period was due). I have a 32 day cycle which contributes to a 4-5 day difference I think, but I'm still not sure how it's off for the week or so.

My son measured a week behind my LMP, my doctor said not to worry so I did not worry. We kept my due date that whole week behind but then my son was born 2 weeks early :winkwink:

Thank you everyone so much for the reassurance!!
Mayne at some point this pregnancy I'll stop worrying lol

My son measured roughly 2 weeks behind even though I was 100% positive of dates. It turns out he was a tiny little guy. at 10 days overdue he was 6lbs 12 oz and 18.5 inches long. this time around this one is measuring 2 weeks ahead consistently and again, I am 100% positive of my dates... I'm hoping he's not some HUGE baby.

Oh wow I guess it really can go either way even when we are sure of our dates. Good luck with your pregnancy and thanks for the response!

Oh yes, most definitely :) And what I find funny too about it is that both babies are/were due on the 4th of a month. My first was the 4th of September and this one is the 4th of April. I am so regular with my cycles that I am almost certain that they were both conceived on the same day of the month if not just 1 or 2 days different.

Good luck with your pregnancy as well. And another word of advice, if your baby is consistently measuring behind then that's a good sign still. It means that he/she is still growing on the same rate they are supposed to, but just a little behind if that makes sense.

Yep! My scans are measuring 3 days behind...so at every ultrasound they tell me my due date is June 18th, but at my midwife appts, they continue to go by LMP (due June 15th) Dont worry at all! As long as the baby is growing properly and healthy, not a big deal. :)

Same with me scans give me one due date and obgyn sticks with the other...it'll be interesting to see when the baby's actually come.
