Scared...again! Wet underwear

I always seem to be damp! I have now decided that I simply need to wear pantyliners all the time. It used to be creamy discharge but these days it's more like I haven't quite got to the toilet on time and leaked a bit (though I'm convinced its discharge and not urine at present) or even like you've pulled up your pants without wiping so left a wet patch? I'm not concerned. Increased discharge is normal but mine is now definitely more clear than creamy... It prob changed in the last 2 weeks or so.

I have to wear pantyliners all the time - constantly damp otherwise... it's disgusting, but nothing to be concerned about. hopefully it's nothing for you as well. keep up with those kegels!

i get that too sometimes, looks like a decent size wet spot on my underwear. i never thought anything of it, just wanted to be sure was not blood! i assumed maybe urine leaked a little without me knowing it. it may happen more when i drink a ton of water too. i did read that especially during second tri - we get more discharge and that the sites i read this on recommended wearing panti liners.

But when you ladies say a spot, it seems you are all talking about the size of a coin....this was like the size of a deck of cards! Not damp enough to soak through but still quite wet.

for me it was like I wet myself... not enough to soak through to my pants, but wet enough that it was uncomfortable, clear fluid - the discharge is a separate issue - which is why I started wearing pantyliners daily - when I forget, that's how it is from when I leave the house to when I get home from work - TMI sorry, it's gross.

I'm the same. I have to wear panti liners everday of my life, not just when pregnant. If I don't, my knickers are wet through after a couple of hours. It's just increased disharge and nothing to worry about unless it smells or is a funny colour.

Amniotic fluid has a very distinct sterile, bleach-like smell and will smell different to normal discharge.

My "damp patch" is usually the size of the double cloth crotch bit of my panties... not just the size of a coin.

And your "wet spot" is the size of the one I described? Like a deck of cards?

Okay I know size shouldn't matter :winkwink: but how big of a wet spot would it leave?

As for me, I did go into an italian hospital and that was a wild experience. I walked in to the maternity ward and a doctor took me back in within twenty seconds, gave me a brief manual pelvic exam and ultrasound, and told me not to be ridiculous and that my fluid was fine and to stop treating my pregnancy as if it were an illness and enjoy it. I asked if she would do the paper test strip to test for amniotic fluid and she said it wasn't necessary. I got charged $0! What do you make of that? Should I be reassured even though she didnt do the test strip? She said there was plenty of fluid around the baby but what if it were a slow leak.....at least we got to see our daughter again on the ultrasound.

Honey, you really need to calm down and take a deep breath. You went to be seen, the Dr didn't see any cause for concern so relax!
If it makes you feel better, then take it easy for the next few days. Lay in bed and watch movies, curl up on the couch with a book. All the worry and stressing yourself out is not good for you or the baby.

Thank you! This is what is needed to hear. I was worried my post would come off as critical of the doctor who was so firm with me but really I need people to give it to me straight. Thanks again!

Sorry to sound mean but I want to grab you and shake you and shout at you to relax and enjoy your holiday.... :)

Imagine how my poor husband feels....11 years with me, the poor *******. #mostpatientmanaward

I get the sizable wetness every day for the past 2 weeks. It smells a little like urine even though I didn't feel it drop.

Beagle, I hope that even though she didn't do a strip test, the dr. helped to ease your mind so that you can enjoy the rest of your time in Italy!!

She totally did, I guess I'm just wondering if people think a strip test was truly unnecessary. After all, if it were a slow leak wouldn't the amniotic fluid look fine on the ultrasound? However I wonder if that is just a really unusual situation and usually when PPROM occurs it is consistent and significant and therefore that would be a rare finding in an already relatively rare condition so it was just unreasonable to test for.

Today I had a few more wet spots after walking around for an hour or two but they were small, the size of a coin, and then I felt wet and wiped myself and there was a lot of what looked like wetness on the toilet paper...I scratched at it with my thumbnail and came away with what looked like a watery but milky cream, so that seems like normal Leukkorhea. Therefore I am wondering if what the water is, is just watered down versions of this.

I'm a midwife in the UK and have never ever used a strip test?
