i accidentally bumped my tummy on the lock of my cabinet. there's still a little dent on my tummy and it's freaking me out. im scared i might have hurt my baby. but whenever my doctor uses her stethoscope to hear my baby's heartbeat, she presses it so hard and sometimes it even hurts.

ladies, do you think i might have hurt my baby?:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

I have done this a couple of times and even bruised my tummy quite badly, it have never been a problem as baby is well cushioned in there, however, if you are concerned call your health care professional and ask if you need to be checked over. Always better safe than sorry xxxx

thank you so much. at least it made me more secure knowing that there's someone like me who accidentally did something. i have read that the placenta is just beneath the umbilical button, so i am hoping she's cushioned there.

I've also scratched and badly bumped my bump on a door latch before, it hurt and I was worried. But once I read that baby is safely cushioned I was a it relieved :)
Try not to worry but if you're really worried get checked over :)

I regularly used to accidentally punch my belly when I yanked on my dogs leashes... My baby turned out perfectly fine :)
By 36 weeks I think your baby's head is safely protected in your pelvis anyway and the rest is floating around with lots of padding also so you should have nothing to worry about.

i wouldn't worry. i was rushing to clean up spilt oil in the kitchen ad turned quickly without enough space catching my belly on the corner of the counter. I had an instand red mark about 4inches long come up that 1 week later is only just completely gone. My little girl however has been as active as ever and is perfectly fine :) x

mine constantly gets whacked on door handles table corners the pushchair handle all the time and my toddler stamps allover me and baby is fine all i can say is thankgod they are in that bubble of water or my baby at least would be coming out black n blue poor thing lol x

I have done a lot to my belly as have my toddler and preschooler. My baby is completely fine. They are still pretty cushioned inside of us with the amniotic fluid, our muscles, fat and such. Unless your baby is not doing the recommended kick count I would not worry too much.

I did this while at work. It hurt sooo bad bruised my tummy too. Phoned hospital as my baby didn't move all day after an they put me on monitors and assured me baby was fine. Thy told me about how protected baby is in there an I was only on monitor for reduced movement but again baby was fine this was 3 weeks ago now. If your that worried call hospital and see what they say xxx

i bump mine into stuff all the time and last night OH pretty much walked straigh into it lol...and she is totally fine. im just huge and clumsy!!try not to worry :_ x

I often knock my bump im not used to my personal space being this big and generally dont realise how far out my belly pokes lol

I have done this lots too and it is very scary at the time, but as the other ladies have said they are well cushioned in there. My midwife put it into context saying it would usually take a 'severe trauma' to harm the baby - not that I'm suggesting you be wreckless! I wouldn't worry about the bump though x

My little 8 lb dog jumps squarely on my belly all the time, I am always worried but have been told baby's well protected inside...

thanks so much. this gave me an assurance. it was just now that I realized that what i was feeling on my tummy was one of my stretchmarks. it was that too that was accidentally bumped on the lock of our cabinet. whew.

:) I heavily researched the topic when I kept hitting myself too...
This is where your baby should be now: https://catalog.nucleusinc.com/enlargeexhibit.php?ID=14798&TC=&A=2
I was much relieved to find out the pointy part which I thought was my son's head was actually his bum. Theyre pretty much up to their shoulders in your pelvis so their brain is protected and their little organs are so tiny that they're too light to jostle around unless you REALLY try. At this point, there are even babies who survive car crashes, it's just the placenta that can't handle the impact so the baby is delivered but the actual baby inside is fine :flower:
