im due my second in 18 days and i am very anxious this time round, i was young when i had my daughter, a week before my 17th so i was a bit nieve about it all really, 6 and a half years later i am about too go through it all again, only this time, not quite soo young, i am absolutely ceekin it this time as i know exactly what too expect, and only pain relief that will be on offer is gas and air and pethadine i think, no epidurals, which i had with my first, just not sure how i am going too cope with this, and is second labour quicker than first? my first was 12 hours, i guess i am so anxious this time round because i know exactly what i am about too go through xx

You are not alone hun. I am 38 at the moment and 9wks gone with my second 6 years after my first. After my first I swore never, ever again will I put myself through that, but here I am again! I am petrified too, because I know what I have let myself in for....and I have a long way to go yet lol.

They say the second time is easier, so here is hoping that our fears will be diminished & have an easier time of it.

With my first it was an 18 hour long back to back labour, all they gave me was gas & air! So this time I am going to be more demanding, depending on how it goes.

Good luck hun, I know how you feel xxxxx

I was admament for 6 months after having my first that I would never ever put myself through that again, with my first I had a 35 hours labour with pethadine which ended in a ventouse delivery, then 8 months ago I had my son after an hour and a half labour, 3 pushes and he was out with no pain relief at all. I understand how you feel, throughout my second pregnancy I kept remembering my first labour and I was terrified and adament I was going to have any pain relief I could I think the only thing that helped me was reminding myself of that overwhelming feeling of love and happiness when it is all over.
They do say most second labours are easier and quicker and in my case that was definately true. Good luck you will be fine

i am absolutely cacking myself! lol, but hopefully it will be a lot easier this time and i can stop thinkin about my first labour, fingers crossed, though i cant really see myself not thinkin about it xx

my second labour was nothing like my first.
i had a pretty easy birth the first time round but things were done by my mw that really shouldnt of been done. i was already in early labour myself but my waters were broken after 13 days, i was 12 days over due.

i was stuck on my back, when it came to pushing the pains had stopped but i was told to push anyway so my body wasnt ready. the mw then cut me when she shouldnt of. and my care in general was horrible. i had gas and air and pethadine which was pointless.
labour lasted 7 hours from when my waters were broken

with my second labour started naturaly, i had a homebirth so i was able to move around which made the contractions more painful then with my first.
all i had for pain relief was a tens machine and moving around. i was able to jump in my birthing pool just in time because corey wanted to come out fast lol
i did it all naturaly and im not going to lie ofcourse it hurts like hell but i did it.
labour was just under 4 hours start to finish

after was so much better then with my first. with my first 3 weeks after i wa still sore, this time the soreness only really lasted little over a week.

you will be fine :D

I feel like many of us are scared going into it all because we are basically taught to be scared. One thing that has helped me tremendously is not focusing on the negatives of childbirth, but instead reading uplifting books on natural childbirth--these books reinforce the normalness of giving birth, instead of the risks and dangers. My outlook on childbirth has changed drastically since reading books such as "Hypnobirthing," "Husband-Coached Childbirth," "Natural childbirth the Bradley Way," and Ina May Gaskin's "Guide to Childbirth." Since I'm only having my first, I don't know quite what to expect, but I think our brains play a huge part in how we experience things in life--when our perspective changes, our experience does as well. These books have helped me become so much more confident, so I definitely recommend a read!

my second labour was a breeze compared to my first lol it was litterally 1/6th of the lenght i was induced ( 41+4 ) but already in very early stage labour when i was induced and caus i knew that my first was so drawn out caus i was fighting agaisnt it then i allowed myself to think differently of the contractions and practiced relaxation breathing through them and he did litterally fly out when he decided to actually descend onto my cervix
your body has done it once and knows what its doing so long as you let it get on with it without interrupting it then you can have a fantastic experience
