I'm sorry if I post in the wrong section since I got a BFP today. I'm new here. My husband and I have been married for 4 years and trying to concieve for just as long. It has been a very depressing 4 years, every BFN was a slap in the face. We never got a positive test before. My cycle this month has been horribly messed up, and I don't know what to believe I'm really scared of a misscarriage. Here's some symptoms I've been having.

1 DPO to 14DPO- fever and horrible smelling gas
15 DPO- cramping bad. put a pad on and went to the store. When I got back had a patch of about 1 inch long blood patch (brown). Did a cervix check, came out with a little brown CM. Cervix was low, hard and open
16DPO- cramping pretty bad. Cervix check varies from medium soft cervix to very soft and closed. Couldn't sleep all night
17 DPO- Morning of no sleep comes with bad cramps. Cervix is medium to hard and semi open. No blood. Sent my husband to the store in the evening to buy me a test. Took it right away line showed up about 1 minute later, medium intensity colored

The whole time from 1 DPO to 17 DPO I've been burning up. Feels like my skin's on fire.

I'm scared of the cramps. I feel like I'm going to start my period every minute even though the test says I'm pregnant. Before I started feeling bad I took adult dose aspirin for a migrane, 2 of them in 2 different days.

We haven't been TTC for few months. We got tired of it. I wanted us to quit smoking, I did a year ago, my husband quit in July. I got pregnant in August after we BD only once in my fertile window.

Did anyone had symptoms similar to mine and ended up full term? I'm scared to death

Hey there DeeDee X,

Whispering congrats on your BFP. How exciting! We've been trying for 4 years, so I understand what you've gone through. A lot of women feel like their period is about to come in early pregnancy, so I don't think that's abnormal.

Have you been doing more pregnancy tests? If so, is the line getting darker? I'm assuming you haven't been spotting? I'd recommend getting a beta if you haven't already to verify that your HCG levels are doubling.

In my case, I had a BFP after our first IVF/ICSI, but it sadly ended up in miscarriage. My BFP was pretty faint for being 15-18 DPO, though I just figured a line is a line. I started spotting and when I did my beta, it was only 19, which is super low. Sure enough, the line faded away and my bleeding intensified. Not a happy story, but I had some warning signs that things weren't going my way with the faint line and the spotting.

Hope yours sticks!

Congrats!!

The hardest thing in my opinion about early pregnancy is not being able to know if everything is going well. As PP said, betas could be helpful to see if you're on track until your first scan. Otherwise, I'm afraid there just aren't any gaurantees and symptoms can vary greatly by each person and each pregnancy.

With my miscarriage, I had a strong test, no cramping, no bleeding, and few pregnancy symptoms. We learned it wasn't viable at our 9 week ultrasound. My only hint was the lack of symptoms (very little morning sickness, etc).

With my daughter (whose now 20 months old), the test was SO FAINT I could barely see the line. I had some more symptoms with her, including some early cramping, which scared me. At 17 weeks, I had a tiny bit of bleeding. Obviously i went to term and she was healthy.

With my current pregnancy, the test line was really strong and I had NO symptoms for most of the first trimester (and then it was only fatigue). Since it mirrored my miscarriage with the lack of symptoms, I thought it wasn't viable. I even told my husband I expected to miscarry again. Then at 9 weeks I had severe cramps and spots of red blood for several days. I got an emergency ultrasound and baby was fine with a strong HB. I'm just about 30 weeks now and our little boy has been great so far, kicking up a storm with a strong HB. Doctors had no idea why the cramping was so strong (at one point I couldn't breathe through them) or why I bled.

Sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to point out that after three pregnancies (one loss and two apparently successful ones), I've had no symptoms with both a miscarriage and a healthy pregnancy; cramps only with successfully pregnancies; bleeding only with successful pregnancies; etc. If you went by assumptions, my miscarriage should have ended fine (no cramps or bleeding), whereas this pregnancy would have resulted in a loss (really strong cramps accompanied by bleeding and few symptoms).

You just never know. Cramps can be perfectly normal, so try not to let them upset you. In the meantime, try to get an early scan to put your mind at ease if your doctor will allow it and try to find a way to distract yourself in the meantime! Good luck !!!

This is a great story!!!! It's that reminder that we all need to not overanalyze our symptoms. (I mean... I'm going to keep doing it, lol, but it's still a great reminder) :haha:

Thanks so much for sharing. Really.

I'm in a similar boat DeeDee. My first BFP was after three years of TTC, ended in miscarriage. And now I'm pregnant again and scared every minute.

I try to always remind myself that this is all just a part of what will someday be the story of how we became parents.

(easier said than done for sure!)
