Hi guys.

I just totalled up the uniform for a 5 and 6 year old for next term >.> it comes up to £144.85 and I know that can't be right to say the least especially since thats with my Husbands 10% discount.. help!

I only have one at school now and for his Jumper, polo-shirts and trousers it is coming to £59 :O that doesnt include stationary, school shoes, pe kit, pe trainers, school bag and lunch bag :(

When my eldest was at school his blazer was £60 for one and £25 for one jumper, he would have needed two of each (blazer and school jumper had to be worn every day)

School uniforms prices are ridiculous!

I know last summer I spent about £100 at the uniform shop and that was just logo polos, jumpers and pe kit! I get trousers and shorts from m&s which are around £10 for two pairs. Then there's shoes approx £40 and coats x2 (one light mac and one heavy winter). I probably spent £250 on uniform for my son this year. All his polo shirts will be going in the bin at the end of this term so not much is being reused!

I'm lucky and my daughter can wear plain polo shirts and cardis without the logo. She wears a plain white school shirt and school tie most days. Id say I spend about £60 on uniform (2/3 skirts, a pinafore, 2 pairs of gym shorts, 5 school shirts, 4 white polos, 3 cardis, tights and socks) Mostly from Next/Asda. I then spend 50 on her shoes, £20 on Gym shoes (she likes lelli kelly ones) and whatever her jacket costs (usually she chooses one that's about £40) I have also just spent £8 on bows for her hair to match uniform. Then we have school bag, packed lunch, pencil case and all the other bits.. its not cheap! x

I just did an M&S uniform shop in preparation for September as they have 20% off.
For £58 I got:
6x plain white polo tops for DS for
4x trousers for DS for
6x white polo tops for DD
1x pinafore dress
5 girls socks.

I also bought socks a few months ago when they were on sale, 5x white and 5x grey for DD and 5x black for DS, £1.50 .

I need to get tights for DD (should cost less than £10) school jumpers for both DC (£11 each for jumpers/cardigans with the school logo, I will get them 4 each so £88. DD will grow into DS's old ones eventually though), 3 more dresses for DD (probably around £20), summer dresses for DD (around £25) and school shoes (around £35-40 each). They have coats already although DS will need a new light coat in a few months (probably around £25 although I may well find a bargain before then, I love looking for bargains ;)). DD will need P.E kit, plain white tee, black shorts, plimsolls, around £15. DS will need new plimsolls, £10.

So around £330 altogether for 2 kids.

It's crazy when I totted it up I definitely recommend M&S. I keep telling myself well it's cheaper than them being in there own clothes as they are in it 5 days out of 7. x

Luckily my two don't need Logo Polo shirts so that keeps the cost down. But they do need jumpers that have logos, the school has just changed the logo as well so we can't reuse the jumpers for September!

The jumpers are £10ish each, I get 3 each so £60. Trousers, I get from Asda usually, again 3 pairs each (£24? £4ish per pair), Polo shirts are a few quid, shoes tend to be £40+ each so for the basic uniform (excluding coats, bags, bottles etc) is around £180 for two children

Costs an absolute fortune. TBH until high school I refuse to buy the 'logo' stuff apart from their official school ties.

Each I buy
2 skirts
4 cardis
4 blouses
ASDA for 1 PE kit

Quick wash (40 mins 40 temp and air dry to stop shrinking and bobbling).

Shoes though are a nightmare, I can't get away with the store brands, I end up buy 2-3 pairs in half a year whereas Hush Puppies last them at least the 6 months. I look for the next size up all the time on offer from the likes of Brantano and even VERY.
