Ballagh Joan
Lachlann James
Eilidh Anne
I loved Harris.
But apparently not. He screwed his nose up and said really?
Also love Mysie - I might get my way on that one.
OH suggested Atholl (which I like) and Torquill (sp?) which may grow on me.
And for a girl Ishbiel (sorry I think that is spelt totally wrong - woudl need to investigate that spelling).
I like slightly unsual names, and don't mind unusal spellings (like to confuse my NZ family)
Anyone got any ideas.
Middle names would be either Andrew or Katherine (family names).
All the kids have family middle names which aren't always picked for the ease of flow.
Ballach is the right spelling, and it's gaelic for 'boy'.. Boy Joan?
Ishbeal is how the name is usually spelt.
And for Calum, the scottish version of the name only has one l.
Ruaraidh is the proper spelling of that name too.
I'm Scottish and speak Gaelic, so my source is myself![]()
hi
Many thanks for your response.
Just to clear up the confusion regarding my Daughters name.
She is named after my mothers side of the family - this name is her (my mothers) maiden name - 'Ballagh" Originially from ireland and is pronounced Bella.
So there is no mistake in the spelling.
As for the meaning - I love it as it was the name of a side of the family that was incredibly special to me. The actual Irish gaelic meaning I have not a clue.
