Hi all hope someone has some suggestions here. My LO is 14 weeks and for the past few days she has been screaming when I try and give her her 5 o clock feed and her bedtime feed.
She will calm down when we put the hoover on and shh her but its really stressful and hardwork.
She has 2 doses of gaviscon in an 8 oz bottle.
Dont know whether to try comfort milk or go back to using cartons as I did in the beginning as I use powdered now and premake the bottles so wondering whether thats affecting her although I know loads who premake bottles.

Really unsure what to do, her throat and everything is ok as that was checked when she went to hospital last week.

Anyone any ideas? thanks

Maybe it's the teat flow? U can get a white noise CD & play it for her if it calms down. It works so well for some babies. xx

Hmmm maybe you could change the teat if you havent done that already. Changing milk might help, i would have chat the the hv before though just in case its the gaviscon not working properly hun. My lo was screaming when taking a bottle a times, sometimes arching her back too, then other times just pushing the bottle away, i had already changed teats, spoke to hv, was going to change her milk to comfort and hv said to change her milk too, done that on friday, so far so good, yesterday was a really good day for her. Cant help much more than that sorry hun.

Thanks ladies, she is on stage 1 teats Dr Browns and just downed a 8oz bottle in 20 mins with no bother at all and has gone back to bed and is sleeping soundly again.
I just dont get why the first 3 bottles of the day are fine then the last 2 a nightmare. If it was the milk wouldnt it be all the time? :flower:

I got this on and off with my dd. I thought it would be every bottle too. Some bottles would be fine, then others she would scream and take nearly an hour to take a bottle. We swapped teats which helped for a bit, we decided to swap milk to the comfort to see if that helped too. See how you get on, i would say go up a teat size, then if it keeps happening speak with hv see what they say.

At this age we were on teat 3 for thick formula dr brown bottles. Maybe she's not hungry. Thckened formula is so filling.

Well tried stage 2 teats and she was choking on it and then brought some milk up at end of feed. Someone did suggest teething but why would this be just on evening bottles?

Is everything ok in the bottom department? Dylan behaved a bit like this when he had constipation/trapped wind. With the gaviscon there is a higher risk of it.

Teething can affect them more in the evening - I think we're finally on the verge of some teeth and he's been a right old grump in the evenings! If it carries on much longer without any signs of teeth I'd be inclined to try the comfort formula though!

My LO does this with her second feed of the day sometimes. She will pull her head back and scream like you are beating the child. I found that she really wasn't wanting a bottle, but she was just tired. I now try to put her down for a nap, and if that doesn't work, a bottle. It seems soemtimes I still don't know her hungry cry from her tired cry!

Thanks for all the support and suggestions. Spoke to my health visitor who said its her reflux playing up and have read it can peak at around 4 months.
She suggested that I use a corner cushion and a normal cushion and feed her upright like that and also to put a pillow under her mattress at night.
Will do these and she how she goes.

Hope you get on well with that hun.

I always feed Omar on a pillow (he's also suffering frm reflux) & his matress is tilt up with a pillow.

Hope it works for her hun xx

Well the feeding is going fine, no more screaming, in fact she now laughs at me so have trouble feeding her because of that!!! :haha:
She slept through last night only waking because she was on a tilt she had moved and got her head stuck on the cot mobile.
Trouble we are having now is that she is constipated with the 2 sachets of gaviscon so had to stop it completely and hope she does a poo soon.

Hun, I don't want to butt in but my lo has had reflux for some time and suffered a little from constipation when she was on the gaviscon. However when I stopped it in the hope she would have a poo it just seemed to mess up her whole system. My hv advised just giving some cooled boiled water throughout the day and keeping with the doses of gaviscon. I did this and it really worked.
Hope this helps a bit, I would hate to think of your babba having problems pooing and being sick ! :hugs:

Hiya hun, dont mind you butting in lol She wouldnt take any water or anything which is why I stopped it. She has since been for 2 huge poos and back on the gaviscon but only the one dose as she was fine on this and see how she goes. :flower:

Great news :happydance: U can massage her tummy with warm olive oil & cycle her legs to ease constipation. Foot massage (the bottom of the foot) also helps with constipation & reflux :hugs:
