My temps are all over.... Pft. How do I know if i ovulate if I don't even have the temperature thing to help :( xx

Same problem here, my temps are all over the show. Used OPKs but that confused evem more as the temperatures don't correspond. Maybe I don't ovulate at all? Or maybe my body is on strike? Pffffffffff, TTC is too confusing! x

Yeah.... I'm confused by the opk's as well :/ x

Do you take your temps at the same time every day? I had the same problem first 2 months I charted, but now that I actually wake up at the same time every day (except weekends - I don't care, I'm sleeping in!) it seems to have become more stable...good luck :)

Thats my chart... And tbh... Nope. I do them usually between 8am - 9.30am x

It doesn't look like you've ovulated yet.. when was the last OPK you took?

That's quite a bit of a range for temps...they should be done within 15 min window every day, otherwise they will be all over the map and hard to track....are you able to set your alarm clock?

Yeah Hun. Just didn't realise it mattered. Also is it better to take your temp orally or vaginal. X

I gave up charting... after my doctor (the one helping us with IUI etc) said that it's useless doing it, she said the most reliable is to do OPKs

OPK catch the surge of LH ,can't tell that you really ovulate( release the egg).
The chart tell if you ovulated during that cycle.

My doctor disagreed with the reliability of the chart and told me to stop charting

I understand.
But how can you know if you ovulated (only except if you're pregnant) ?:winkwink:

never in my life have I met a doctor who's frowned upon charting. I was told it's a bit obsessive (I was on my first month TTC and my doc laughed and said that most people take it easy at first LOL) and that I'd know when I ovulated (wrong), but I found it completely helpful for me to chart and know. :) plus I found charting fascinating and my OPKs were DEAD WRONG on when I ovulated. they never even indicated ovulation, whatsoever. but clearly... I did ovulate. ;D so honestly, I disagree with the doctor's thoughts but that's just me.

my temps were pretty erratic too in the beginning. like someone else said, try to temp at the same time daily - even if that means setting an alarm to temp and then return to sleep. I temped at 6am daily, and if I didn't need to be up for work, I went right to bed. helped me a lot, getting them more accurate.

people will argue vaginal v oral - I know women who've had success with both. I did oral temping and was able to easily see when I ovulated for the both cycles that I was charting. it's really up to you and your preference, I believe. :)

Wow your doctor must not do their research. Some women get multiple LH surges so how do they know when they ovulate? Also, charts are rarely wrong when it comes to pinpointing ovulation. Women who chart and get pg know exactly when o happened and how far along they are, and they are proven correct at scans. Sorry if I came off rude or anything xx

ETA: the reason charting works is because of the hormones estrogen and progesterone. Estrogen is the cool temp that is dominate from AF- ovulation. Progesterone is the warm temp which dominates the day after ovualtion to your next AF. I've never ever heard of a doc looking down at charting. Is your doc a FS?!
