hi, ladies.

i had a miscarriage at almost 11 weeks in January. got my BFP last Sunday the second cycle after we started trying again. went in for early bloodwork because of the previous MC and my progesterone was low. HCG did not go up on the second blood draw and i started bleeding yesterday. i guess that's a chemical? don't really know how to define it.

so, i seem to have no problem conceiving. both pregnancies came the second month of trying. but obviously something is wrong.

i just turned 34, i am very healthy and hubby is 32 and also very healthy. i have very regular periods but my LP is a little short--usually around 10 days. (but i don't feel i have a true LP defect since i have been pregnant twice and i don't spot before or anything) i ovulate late in my cycle--usually cd 19 or 20. i keep reading that late ovulation could mean poor egg quality, so maybe that's the problem.

is it time for me to make an appointment with an RE? my OB doesn't seem to think this is a big deal since i had no problems conceiving, but i don't want to have to go through this again just to have another loss.

help!

Sorry about the mc's. Doctor told.me after my second that to have 2 mc's is not something they worry about. But that they will start investigating whether there is a problem after 3. Not sure why but statistically much less likely to mc three times in a row. Not sure it that includes chemical pregnancies though. As sometimes women have chemicals and just think it is late af.

i guess hits up to you really. Hopefully ive helped a little bit?! Also know the pain, i just want a successful pregnancy!! Already no ill be a nervous reck of i get pregnant again. Xx

what do you think about trying straight away after a chemical pregnancy? since i was only 4 weeks & 5 days, i figured it would be fine to start trying right away this cycle.

First off, I'm so sorry to hear about your losses :(
I've had 6 chemical pregnancies within the last year and just started to see a RE within the last month. I had to have 22 vials of blood done for testing. Sounds like a lot but I'm glad that I'm getting to the bottom (hopefully) of the cause of my losses. So far my results came back that my white blood cell count is slightly elevated and so are my homocysteine (sp?) count - I also found out that I have a copy of MTHFR. I'm going to see a Hematologist later this week so that way we can figure out how to get my levels down a bit as they feel that could be why I've been experiencing my losses.
I think it's def. a good idea to see a RE as they can do so much more testing and give you answers, more so than an OBGYN.
**On a side note - I've also had low progesterone levels as well, and my RE said that he always gives his patients supplements after ovulation to take. He said there's no risk but a lot of benefit**

I am so sorry for your losses. I also think its a good idea to see a baby dr. They might be able to figure out if something is off. Maybe you just need an easy fix like progesterone in the luteal phase.
Good luck with the dr, hopefully they can get you in quick so you can get back on the ttc wagon.

Sorry Kelli, I've pretty much gone through the same you have. So I know exactly what it feels like to have the losses :( :( :hugs:

I got my bfp on Friday but slowly the positives have gotten fainter & fainter. Today I started spotting earlier this morning. It just kept getting heavier & heavier so I think I've had another chemical.

Going to keep trying right away, but I'm going to see if the crappy doctors are willing to do anything. I'm in the UK so that pretty much means nope.

With my mc my USA doctor told me to wait 2 cycles which I did, but I've only heard good things about trying after a chemical.

What do you think you'll do?

By the way, have you read the thread about mc facts & myths? They're really good.

I don't know where you live so if you're in the USA you'll probably have better luck with doctor but chemicals aren't really considered MC's and happen a LOT more. So there probably isn't anything wrong at all, it just so happens we know we're having a chemical because we're TTC.

That's the attitude I'm going to take for now & I think I'm comfortable with that. I need to stop putting so much pressure on myself & stop testing so much!

Good luck, let me know if you want to be cycle buddies!

so, here's a little update:

i was due for my yearly pap smear and went in for that today (cd16 after early miscarriage/chemical). before i even brought it up my OB said she wanted to go ahead and get a full blood work-up to rule out any clotting disorders or thyroid problems (i don't have a history of either). she then said that if she can't figure out what's wrong--if anything--she will refer me to someone who will! so glad they aren't making me wait for another miscarriage before being proactive. she also made me feel so much better about my age (34). i have been worried that my eggs are all old/bad and that's why i've had two losses. she assured me that i am still "so young" and that the fact that i've been pregnant twice is a major plus. so, i am feeling much better after having been down in the dumps for the past few weeks.

anyway, just thought i'd share my experience.
