My little J saw the ped neuro last week for some concerns on tremors/IS and stiffness. The neonatal folloup clinic said he was great but the neuro diagnosed him with tremors and muscular hypertonicity. He had cranial scans in nicu for bleeds and nothing ever showed. Neuro says there can be a brain injury or damage that would cause these things, hence eeg and mri. We had the eeg Tuesday, still awaiting results. Mri is on the 16th. He will be sedated for it. J is 4 mths actual and 6.5 wks corrected. They said they may keep him for observation after mri to see how he is once sedation wears off. he may even have to stay overnight. He's on an apnea monitor which hasn't gone off much but I still worry. They will hook him up to a pulse ox and monitor him but jeez overnight? Anyone gone through this?

Hiya!
My son had a mri scan and had to be sedated too! he was monitored but was still admitted to the hospital at that time so i cant tell you when he will be ok to come home.
With my son his sedation wore off very quickly to start but then he became very sleepy and whent off his feeds for a good 6-8 hours after, after that though he was fine!
Good luck x

I my daughter had two MRI scans her first week of life. ( She was born at 38 weeks and stayed in the NICU for lack of movement in her arms) The second MRI was done the day she was supposed to come home and they made us stay there overnight, even after her coming out of the first one just fine. I think it is just standard practice. They told me it was to monitor her breathing, she had no breathing issues though... Anyway good luck on the MRI.
