You should really get some cheap weighing scales so you're not estimating and getting it wrong.
Also, look into using MyHermes instead of the post office. a 0-1kg parcel costs £2.78 if you drop it off at a parcel point.
Royal mail are a bunch of robbers. But yeah, definitely get some scales so you're not loosing any money on what you're trying to sell.
ETA: Also, dont forget about Sellers Fees. My friend actually tries to cover some seller fees in her postage, I don't do this but you do get charged a bit when you sell an item.
