So, I volunteer to supervise visits so my nieces can see their mom. She is my brothers ex-wife. I don't enjoy doing it, but I know that my nieces like to see their mom so I suck it up. That is until now. She is aware that my DH and I are having trouble getting pregnant and just sat in my home and told her girls she's pregnant!! SERIOUSLY?!?! She went on and on how she's going to need their help and they can come stay with her. She isn't even allowed to be alone with these kids. She's been arrested several times for drugs and bounces from place to place, and she gets to be pregnant? I've never touched drugs in my life. I've never smoked in my life. I don't really drink. I will have a glass of wine once in a great while and can't even remember the last time I did that. So, I don't get why SHE get's to be pregnant. I feel like I'm defective and need to be returned for repairs!

It really is unfair isn't it? We go through school being told we can get pregnant any time we have sex and do spend ages trying to prevent it - and then when we want to get pregnant we do everything we can get there. We learn we have a Ridiculously short window of opportunity and realistically really crap odds each month. And yes, there are the people that fall so easily that don't deserve it! And us poor souls have to suck it up and carry on with our day to day lives and put on a brave face.
I work in a sen school and some of the parents complete lack of parental love and care astounds me - I want to scream at them but I can't. Life is really shit sometimes isn't it?

Ugh, how completely just...ugh. Sorry that experience had to make it into your memories. Why oh why did my mother have to be right? Whenever I used to say "but that's not fair!", she would always reply "Life's not fair!"
