Had all four of these plus daily clexane injections with my first pregnancy last year where I ended up in a wheelchair halfway through 2nd tri and was bed ridden from a few weeks later, had emergency section at 36+2 which thankfully saw dd survive and thrive (she just turned 1 yesterday  )

I was told at the time it was down to my then midwife not sending me for physio for the spd when I needed it, and that if the emergency section had been left just a few more hours we would both have died.

Does this mean that I can avoid it or am I at increased risk for all of these again?

Still not got booking apt through yet and would love some advice on what to do in order to avoid it all again or at least to limit the severity of it all...??

With so many complications last time not sure what your risks are exactly this time. You most definatley will be a consultant booking though as I am sure you are aware and will need lots of extra care just to be safe.

Hope things go well this time and congratulaions on your pregnancy too xxxx

Crikey that's a lot for anyone to have to deal with. Just a couple of reccomendations that might help.

for the spd. If you can give me a rough idea of where you are I have a leaflet from their info pack that has reccomendations from other SPD ladies for private physios that have been useful. Alternatively you could give them a call.

Re the GD and pre-eclapmsia could I suggest the Foresight charity ? They take a nutritional approach. Some research trials suggest that Vit E and Vit C in the correct doses can be helful for PE (Chappell et al) but others have found otherwise. Maybe even try something like the GI or GL diets to stave off the GD ? I have no training in this though so you would probably be best off talking to Foresight.

Sorry for all the spaces in the website addresses,it's the only way it will let me post !

Thank you very much for the info, I will look into those right away

Sorry you had to go through that with your first baby. It all sounds very scary.

As for your risks this pregnancy - yes you are at risk for SPD and should look at options for this. You are also at risk for GD again and they should probably test you slightly earlier than they test other people so you can get it under control faster if it is there.

Preeclampsia is apparently more common in first pregnancies, but it also depends what your normal BP is - if it is normally high then you will be at an increased risk. Maybe if you are worried buy a home monitoring kit then you can keep an eye on it and get help if and when needed.

I am afraid I do not know if you are at risk for placental abruption again - I would guess that your risk should be no higher than last time, but have not researched it or ever experienced it - any bleeding and I would rush to emergency though. This was probably what put your DD at greatest risk and was possibly caused by the preeclampsia (again I am not entirely sure)

:hugs: that is a lot to go through and think over.
