SEX? Question...

Okay so I'm two weeks today since my D&C. Doc gave instructions to wait 4wks... but last mc and D&C he said 2wks. Can you guys guess where this is going? I'm soooooo deprived atm and really just wanna jump DH. Not for TTC purposes, but because I've not had sex in like 4-5wks now and I'm going bonkers!!! I can't even watch TV, everything sounds sexual. I realize I'm probably obsessing and could take a cold shower... but what are your thoughts and experiances with this. Is there any harm in having protected sex at this point? Health reasons to avoid sex? Or do you think it'll be okay to have my way?

hey hunni i really arent sure but didnt want to read and run. i never got told when to wait when i had a d+c with our 2nd loss. i guess it could be due to your cervix being dilated during the procedure and it takes a while for it to close and you have been told to wait so not to cause infection. i really cant be sure hun but i think that would be the logical reason as to why.

maybe get a second opinion with another doctor or possibly ring your epu/maternity ward and ask them i have always found them helpful when i have had questions. x

Thanks for the reply. Yes, dialating the cervix... I've thought of that. But I'm confused as to why I've been given two different wait times for the same procedure, on two seperate occasions. Humm, guess I'll have to wait until Monday!!! Arg.

Hey hun, after my procedure they said just to wait until bleeding had stopped. I think we waited about 10 days...?

I was told i could start ttc as soon as i wanted and only wait for the bleeding to stop dues to infection risks. I was told by the midwife in the epau and she did say all the conflicting information is due to personal opinions of docs and their desire for for wanting dating details for next pg's and such ask you to wait til after af etc etc... Im taking her advice as it seems the best and most rational one- also she'd been in my shoes so she knew from personal experience what she was talking about!!

Anywhoo..after my first d&c i waited 5 days-- shocking i know but just like you i was well up for it, lol!! And the bleeding has stopped.

I say, enjoy and have fun. the best part of it for me was feeling connected to OH and feeling 'back to normal' and back to feeling hope and not all in limbo due to the mc etc.

With both of mine I was told to wait till the bleeding stops and just take it slow and easy as I may be uncomfortable.

Okay- bear with me here, but I would say since there is a fear of infection that maybe penetrative sex wouldn't be the best....but....there are other options! Maybe you and DH could find other ways to have fun!?

Thanks ladies.... You're all very nice to reply. I haven't been bleeding for over a week now and cannot think of any reason not to. In fact it's getting harder and harder to rationalize myself. LOL If you know what I mean? And a lot of you have presented the two week standard...(according to google resources) aside from a few voices of reason.
Omi- I'm with you. The main reason, aside from being very horny.. is being close to DH again. I feel so disconnected atm. We talk a lot about things and *ehummm* play but it's just not the same as making love.
Any way, thanks girls I think I'm gonna go for it. I just cannot see waiting four weeks, only for the witch to show to wait another week... or longer who knows what's she's gonna be like first time back. I'm armed with some raincoats and I'm ready to rumble, or tumble. Wish me luck!
