sharp pains

Im not deffinately pregnant but almost certain that i am but today iv had really strong shooting pains on each side of my stomach. Not together but have felt it on both side. Is. It normal? Im only about a week gone if i am pregnant. Thanks

Errm you can get loads of weird pains/ cramps in early pregnancy, aslong as you dont have any bleeding or anything, its probally just growing pains.

Have a had a positive test yet?

Just to warn you, we're not doctors, we can't diagnose you or really even give you much indication, and the teen pregnancy part of the forum is only for people who are DEFFINATLY pregnant.. so this thread might be closed.. and you'll be re-welcomed over here once you have a confirmed your pregnancy

but for now i'll answer, just so you know what to do..

Erm, i can't say ive had shooting pains personally, but if you've had unprotected sex, or protection has failed, then there's always a chance.. if you're only about a week chances are it probably wouldn't show up on a test yet - but you would have to get a test - and if it says negative test again in a week or so... or for better results wait to see if your period comes, if it does, then i highly doubt you're pregnant, however, if it doesn't then i'd say test..
or go and visit your doctor - because it could be a sign of something else.. it could be soemthing as simple as a kidney infection - but your doctor would be able to tell you best..

No, like i said im only about a week along if i am and didnt think tests could pick up this early. Its like period pains.

You cant be a week pregnant- thats impossible, you tecnically concieve on wk 2 of the pregnancy, and a test can pick it up on wk 4. Wk 1 would be the beggining of the cycle you concieve on

steph i think she means, she's had unprotected sex about a week ago, and it could have happened from there?

and generally they wouldn't pick up that early - but it's different for everyone, it depends how quickly your HCG (?) levels rise.. as it's the hormone present in your urine that makes the test give a positive..

it could just be your period? as there's alot of things that can affect it without you even realise.. if you have a feeling, i'd say visit your doctor - they'd also be able to give you a blood test to check if you're pregnant - and they pick up lower levels of the pregnancy hormone, and would be able to tell you earlier..

Sorry for not explaining properly. I think im looking too much for things that arnt there in hope. How early can the blood tests pick up? (On average)

It depends really I got a positive test 1 week and 5 days after concieving, its usually about 2 weeks. I would make an appointment for next week or get a test and take it next week

don't worry steph, i do things like that all the time.. i think it's a sign we've been pregnant for toooooooo long now!! haha..

erm, i'm not sure, i think it depends how quickly your levels start to rise.. i know you can get tests from boots and places that show after like a week or so.. i'd say to be honest they'd both work after 10 days.. but the blood tests are thoght to be slightly more reliable - i'd say you might have to wait two weeks or so..

there's a section called the two week wait - they might be more supportive all the ladies over there are in a similar position - although they might not be teens, they'll understand what you're going through..

^^^ pretty much what she said - although my dates are slightly out - cause at the time i didn't know when my LMP was, now i do!! i found out cause i remember having an arguement, because my mate and i bought white dresses to go to a party - and i couldn't wear it, cause i thought i was going to come on!!

that's okay, i hope you get the result you're after!!
and be sure to let us know how it goes, and the waiting is hard, cause it's not knowing, but there's no other way to find out.. for now you might be able to get an indication of yes or no, from how far along in your cycle you were, but you never quite know..

Well you see my cycle is a bit messed up because i had a 5 month AF from having the implant. So before this my last period started 5 months ago... and i cant remember before that. Had implant taken out due to constant flo.. which is when this happened

ohh right yeah that could be a bit confusing - i'd say maybe try to book an appointment with the doctor, they'd be able to help you, or wait till next week and test yourself, then if you get a positive book an appointment with your doctor..
