I suppose stories of nipple confusion are true:cry:.
Since Mia has been on the bottle (about 8 days now) she won't latch on to either side. I have also tried increasing my milk supply and that was unsuccessful.

I am very discouraged and sad:cry:

no advice hun just loads of these :hugs:

xxxx

Ring the LLL and they can do amazing things to help. Remember it's not too late.

well, I am off the BF wagon for good now.
I pump for her, but that's about it. It was fun while it lasted.

:hugs: Do what feels good for you hun! At least Mia had some breastmilk for a while :hugs::hugs:

:hugs: ahh hun you did well to breastfeed for so long! I was pleased I managed 4 weeks lol. Im glad I read this because I want to breastfeed but was thinknig of giving her a bottle sometimes too, but I'll try my best not to. what teats were you using? xxxxxx

There is nothing wrong with pumping, but if you are really intrested in BFing, then I would try to get a hold of LLL, or if you are in Canada, the public helath unit. Good luck!

My li one was ona bottle for a few weeks and i had to retrain her to latch. It takes time and perseverance. It CAN be done if you are still interested. Just keep offering her the breast first before a bottle feed. That will help build your supply and retrain her at the same time.

I'm having the same problem with Nola. I hadn't slept the night before the induction and then they gave me fenagrin (spelling?) cause I was getting sick and I was so tired I gave them my consent to give her sugar water so I could sleep. She never latched on but I'm not sure if it's cause of the sugar water or that my nipples are big and her mouth is so small. They ended up making me chose I either pump or they give her formula. So I pumped. Then until my milk came in I gave her formula with whatever I could pump but now I'm just giving her my breastmilk. I'm still trying to breastfeed but she won't latch. But I see it as she's still getting the breast milk even if it's not from the direct sorce. Good luck with it though.

Congratulations on your little girl! It might be a good idea to see a lactation consultant to see if you can get her to latch on, as it's harder to keep up your supply if you're just pumping (and obviously more time consuming when you're having to pump and bottle feed her) - she's still very young so she should be able to learn. It's great that you're still able to give her breast milk though :D

If anyone else is advised to feed their baby from a bottle in the hospital and wants to breastfeed when they get home, it might be worth asking them to cup feed rather than bottle feed (if it's for a short time), as it's less likely to cause nipple confusion.
