On Thursday, I had my bloody show and continued to pass bloody mucus discharge up until Friday night when I started having very regular contractions 8 minutes apart at around 7 p.m.
I tried not to get my hopes up since I had been going through episodes of false labor for two weeks already and was expecting that this was another occurrence.
At around 8 p.m. I experienced what I knew was a pretty damn painful contraction and from then on they started coming more and more intensely and 3-5 minutes apart.
I was afraid to go to the hospital too early only to be sent home, so I decided to wait it out a little longer.
Around 2 a.m. the contractions were unbearable, so I decided to go in, thinking I was only going to be 4-5 cm at the most, but when I was checked in triage, I found out I was SEVEN centimeters dilated already!
I don't have time for an entire birth story but I will say in short that I didn't achieve a natural birth but am pretty damn proud I made it to seven at home. At one point, her heart rate dropped below 100 and an emergency c-section was nearly performed, but as soon as we reached the OR, her heart rate returned to normal and when I was checked, I was 10 cm and +2 station.
Seeing as her heart rate had returned to normal and I was nearly ready to push, they decided to break my water and let me deliver vaginally.
Only problem was, I was numb from my nipples down because of the anesthesia they gave me in order to prep for the c-section.
I didn't think I was going to be able to push when I was completely numb, but I ended up doing it and not tearing or needing an episiotomy at all!
Callie Leclerc was born on 10/12/13 at 11:12 a.m. weighing 7 lbs 8 oz and 19 inches long!
I guess she decided she wanted to come on her own terms and I'm super glad because I was dreading induction.
I'm so in love with my new little girl, I can't even believe it. She will be meeting her older brother as soon as I check out of the hospital tomorrow or Monday and I can't wait!
