HI,

Having had long day 21 protocol for my previous two IVF's I have been put on the short / antagonist protocol this time around - using gonal F from CD2 and then Orgalutran (the antagonist drug) from day 5 of stimms. I had then assumed that as this was following my normal cycle I would have EC around CD14.

However the clinic said that you cant start stimms on a saturday (so the clinic can make sure none of the procedures fall on a Sunday I think) - so as AF is being a bitch this month and hasnt turned up today but will be here tomorrow - it means that I have to start stimms on CD3 on Sunday.

Does anyone who has any idea of how the short protocl works know how this should affect things? Will EC still be on CD 14 or later cos stimms didn't start till day 3 AND considering I need all the eggs I can get - will this mean that I could have less eggs cos I would have had one day less of stimms?

v v v v v v confused over this new protocol thingy?

IF anyone could let me know how their dates of EC fell when they were on the short I would be really grateful.

Hi,

This is my protocol too, I start stimms tomorrow. This is my 2nd attempt on the Antagonist.

My patient guide says that the "12 Day Timetable" may vary and may continue beyond Day 12.

On my first attempt I had a scan on Day 8 (Wednesday) then a second on Day 10 (Friday), my late night injection was on Day 11 (Saturday) and my Egg Collection was Day 13 (Monday).

I hope this helps.

All the best with everything!
xx

I've been on the short protocol twice now. The first time, I didn't start stims until CD3. However, another doctor (not the doctor who let me start on CD3) told me that the first few days are the most important for 'recruiting' eggs and if the first few days are done wrong it can mean that not enough eggs are stimulated in the first place. I ended up with only 1 dominant follicle during this cycle and the cycle was abandoned.

On my second cycle I started on the morning of CD2 and had 31 eggs collected on CD13!! So i think it makes a huge difference x

F**K - i know they wont let me start on CD 2 so I have no choice but to start on CD 3 - if my cycle is abandoned then my last free IVF go will be wasted cos once you start stimms they count is as a cycle.
I dont repsond that well anyway - had to have gonal F dose increased on first IVF.

Did they do anything else different MrsR in your second cycle besides start you on CD2 like increase the stimms dose? F**K I cant beleive one day can make so much difference.
Do you think I should just start stimms tomorrow regardless of what they say?

Good luck for this cycle hun.

Just in case anyone checks this for reference - I just rang hospital to register start of my treatment and asked nurse about day 2 vs day 3 and she said not to worry - but I can start on day two.
So panic over - and thanks for your replies WooWoo and Mrs R.

So the fun and games starts for me tomororw!!!:happydance::happydance::happydance:

Good luck to you both.
