Should I call about Hsg?

I just can't decide. When I first met with FS one of the steps he mentioned was the Hsg, but when I saw him last, he just said we would start the monitored Clomid cycle. Now, part of me just wants to try the clomid and go from there. However; when I had my chemical last month (first :bfp: since 2008) I had felt distinct O pain on my LEFT side, which I always feel it on my right. So this makes me think that maybe my right tube could be blocked?? But, once again, a part of me (the part that HATES doctors and testing and such) just wants to try the Clomid. So what do you guys think. Should I call and request the test? If I do what do I say? I don't want to sound pushy, and suggest something that my doctor didn't, if that makes any sense. Ughhh. Help me :)

I'd say call and ask for the hsg, it's so nice knowing tubes are open and ready to go.

I had my hsg this cycle and it was less painful than a blood test or smear.. Also you get the added advantage of the increased chance of conception after a hsg, that and the clomid would give you great odds at getting a bfp!
:flower:

Lol, this may sound stupid, but will they know what I mean if I say Hsg? Or should I look up how to pronounce the whole word??

I think they will know, the full word is pretty long lol! If they are confused just say the test to check if your tubes are open :)

Thanks!! Guess I'm gonna go make a phone call!! :)

I had a hsg and they gave me clomid after my tube was spasming or blocked...
I done three rounds of clomid no success...
Then had the laparoscopy etc showed my tube had a mucus blockage which they unblocked thankfully last month...

So i wasted three months on meds the. 6 months waiting for the op I wish I just opted for the op instead of not knowing, so personally id have the hsg then you know wether everything is ok and you can give the meds the best chance of working :)

If you dont want to say hsg I think they alled mine a 'hycosy'?

Mammag sorry to hear about your loss :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

I was pretty forward with my OB and requested the HSG. I was worried she'd feel like I was being pushy or I think I'm a Dr cuz I googled something, but she wasn't like that at all. I explained my situation, we were very patient, waited over a year for me to have an infertility consultation (since I'm 31, they say try on your own for a full year). My husband had a semen analysis a couple months prior and was given the ok. To me, the time we waited and his good results made me feel an HSG was the next step (before drugs) and she was completely understanding.

I had it done last Thursday and it wasn't that bad. I was SO anxious about it - and believe me, it wasn't comfortable - but it wasn't too bad. I took 4 regular ibuprofin (800mg) about an hour before the test. I'm always scared of pain that will make me flinch or jump - cuz then what if it messes them up with what they are doing and hurt me worse, etc. I think of a dentist with a drill... But the pain and uncomfortable-ness was never enough to make me "flinch," and it was over pretty quickly. My Dr still has to analyze the results, but on the spot the Dr that conducted the test said he didn't see any issues. Definitely worth knowing/seeing your parts, I found it pretty interesting! I'm grateful there are no blatant abnormalities. However my insurance may not cover it, so we'll see what that bill looks like... So consider that as well.

They said my insurance may not cover it too, it will be $425 if it doesn't.

I honestly believe it is helpful. Even if there isn't any blockage it helps the tubs open up and boost chances of pregnancy. I had one this month.

You can take clomid in the same cycle with HSG?
Thank you

I say definitely try the hsg first! After 15 months ttc i conceived 1 week after my hsg. Clomid would have been my next step too. Best of luck!
