Should I complain?

Hey guys.

I wonder if I could have your honest opinion?

I was diagnosed with a bleed in-between two membranes of the placenta called an SCH or Sub-chorionic Haemorage. I have been signed off work from my full time job since 16 weeks to 'rest'. I'm not allowed to hoover, lift my toddler, walk far etc etc. Its been really hard and my husband hasn't been able to work (he works from home) as he has been looking after me and our toddler.

Needless to say that my 20 week scan was REALLY important to see what was happening with the bleed and for my GP to decide if I go back to work or any restrictions are lifted. At the scan the sonographer said that she couldn't see anything. I've got used to seeing it by now (had quite a few scans) and I thought I had seen it. I spent a very paranoid few days and decided to buy a private scan.

At the private scan the sonographer said that she doesn't know how the other songrapher missed it. It currently measured 8.5 cms (not small!) and is very obvious, especially to a trained eye.

So the question is - should I complain? I worry about other women that she might see and miss really important things. Also my medical notes are wrong - not good. But I just have this worry that I don't want to get someone into trouble. I'm really struggling with this decision. But what if something had happened to my baby because I thought everything was now normal? If the bleed ruptures or expands and the placenta ruptures I could loose the baby. Not something to take lightly!!

Please help

Thank you :) x

I think you should complain this person obviously needs more training in spotting problems and if you hadnt had the private scan you could of gone back to work thinking it was getting better or gone and caused it to rupture and put your baby in danger all because this person didnt do their job properly!! Also you spent money you shouldnt of had to spend on the private scan!

I hope things get better for you soon xxx

Too important to let go, sonographer should have asked for 2nd opinion given the severity of the potential problem.

You've had to worry and go private before any of the other scary outcomes, they probably have a policy for these things and if I was the sonographer I wouldn't want to miss it again .

Don't feel bad x

I definately would complain hun. The sonographer should have asked for a second opinion if she wasnt sure. You also need to let your midwife know you had another scan and what they found.
xxx
