Hi I'm 7+5 at the moment and this is my 6th attempt at having a baby after my son who is 3 1/2 I've miscarried the last 5 times with no explanation after every test possible! They have all been between 5 and 14 weeks gestation. This time I'm trying not to think about it too much and last mc was in oct I had 3 scans from 6 weeks this time I havnt even been to docs or contacted midwife yet I was planning on waiting till I was nearer 12 weeks but I'm wondering if an early scan might me a good idea I've got loads of symptoms tiredness, feeling queasy and v sore boobs. I'm just confused to whet to do and the ppl I have told don't get it or have any advice my husband is happy to just go with my decisions. Anyone help??

Hiya, I'm having the same thoughts at the mo but I'm 2wks behind you. My last mc was my last cycle and I've not had one in between so I've no idea whether my dates will even be right!

I'm not going to go to the doctors for another few weeks, so if I get an early scan we'll definitely be able to see something.. I'd go to the epau and get a scan if I were you x

I think it's a good idea if it puts your mind at rest, if you see a heartbeat it might ease your worries a bit .

I had an early scan after my miscarriage to ease my mind. I am not sure it really helped in the long term to be honest. It eased me for a few days and then I was right back to worrying.

Because I live in Canada it didn't cost me anything so I was happy to have few days feeling good about things. Not sure if you have to pay for additional scans where you are. If not I would say for sure do it, why wouldn't you give yourself peace of mind.

I finally feel comfortable with my pregnancy now. I'm 22 weeks and feeling lots of movement. For me, it just took time to feel good about things even though I did have an early scan.

Good luck with whatever you decide :hugs:

If it makes you feel better go for it!

Unfortunately early scans can't prevent anything just might help you. I think they can be more of a worry with stress but everyone is different ;)

I went to the early pregnancy unit for a scan around 9 wks, obviously terrified and scared as had had a terrible experience with scans/mc before. We saw an actual moving around baby and it was great. I have had numerous scans since then (private in Ireland), but still worry before every appointment/scan, so it might make you feel better to have an early (but not too early) scan!

best wishes

How accurate are the private scans at dating you. I am having one on weds and I will be 9weeks exactly from what my other scans have said

I had one and there was a hb! I don't feel any less scared or any kore scared tbh I'm finding it hard to connect to it at all! They dated me 6+1 last wed but I know that's impossible lol so I think I may be a week out ish so I'm thinking I'm about7+5 now! At the earliest she did say she could have been wrong as it's hard to measure when so tiny xx
