Should I get tested at the Dr. Office?

I'm going crazy waiting for my BFP, and reading all the stories of women who go months without getting a BFP on HPT's is making me think I should go to the Dr. to try to find out for sure. What do you all think? Here are my det's:
2nd cycle off nuvaring
1st cycle lasted 36 days
Feb 27th started 2nd cycle
Used basal temp monitoring and OPK to determine that ovulation happened on day 28 of my cycle
Baby danced day before and day of ovulation
11dpo - had some dark blood on underwear
12dpo - heavier bleeding (red, went through a couple tampons that day) - super depressed thinking it was my period (completely lethargic and DH tried so hard to cheer me up),
13dpo - bleeding stopped except a very small amount of dark brown spotting (kept spotting like this for 4 more days)
15dpo - took clearblue test = BFN
18dpo - super sensitive to smells, no appetite, cried for no reason at dinner with DH
19dpo - took another clearblue test = BFN; cried for a while, called in sick to work and went back to bed (slept until noon)
20dpo - took a dollar tree test = BFN, started cramping quite a bit in lower abdomen (TODAY)

I expected AF 5 days ago, and I feel like the bleeding could have been my period since it was more blood than most people describe for implantation bleeding, though it would have been 4 days early. I don't want to waste my Dr's time or my money, but I'm so anxious to know if I'm preggo or not. Would a Dr's blood test be more sensitive than my HPT's? Should I wait or try to see the Dr. tomorrow? How long does it take to get blood test results? I'm trying for my first, so this is all so overwhelming and much harder and more emotional than I ever expected.

It's up to you. The bleeding could have been AF. even though you expected her at 36 days, you're cycles (number of days and length of AF) could still be sorting themselves out after birth control. Do you remember what they were like before BC? Mine were under 28 days and since I've been off bc they've been 29 days (so even though they've been regular, they are still kind of long/off for me).

If it will ease your mind, make an appt. blood work takes a few days, so if you get in tomorrow, you might know the results by Friday, Monday at the latest.

Thanks, Khigg19. I do think it could have been AF, but I've just been feeling so weird the last few days. It could just be the stress of TTC in general, but having no appetite is really abnormal for me, and I'm usually a little emotional but not nearly like I have been this past week.

Given the possibility of it being my period and the fact that I still haven't tested positive at this point, does it seem more likely that I'm pregnant or not pregnant? (I know there's really no way to know this, I'm just looking for opinions, I guess.)

Most women will test positive within 1-7 days after their missed period. After that, chances are slim . With that being said though, it's the "most women" that's troubling. I had a friend that was pregnant and all urine test were negative. It took 4 weeks after her missed period for drs to finally do a blood test.

Hi gowright!
I think that the bleeding was probably your AF. Khigg has mentioned, your cycles could still be sorting themselves out after getting off of birth control. I would probably count that day as the day of your new cycle, maybe take a test once a week just in case.
Baby dust to you!

Hi Gowright,

Since you just went off BC, you can't trust your body right now. If your experience is anything like mine, it may be several cycles until your timing is right.

Here's what mine did: C1-26 days, C2-25 days, C3-25 days, C4-28 days, C5-8 days, C6-28 days, C7-26 days, C9-28 days, C10-28 days, C11-28 days.

Don't get discouraged! You're just at the beginning, and I'm sure you'll get your BFP soon!!

Thank you to all of you ladies for the advice. It helps to have some sane women who get all this stuff give me your objective opinion, since I'm having a hard time looking at this all without a bias.

I haven't been off birth control for more than a 3-4 months at a time in about a decade, but I do think I usually had pretty long cycles and was somewhat irregular during the times when I've been off it.

I guess the silver lining of all this is that if it was AF, then I'm already 10 days into my next cycle and my cycles seem like they may be getting shorter. :)

Thanks again!

Great way to look at it! Start tracking O and get to BDing :)
