Should I Reuse Baby's Formula?

I have researched everywhere, and have read mixed opinions....and I know the correct way to go is to dump his bottle and just make a new one...but it kinda stings since there's 6 oz left in the bottle. This morning, I premade 9 oz of formula for him and he only took 3 oz. I put the remaining formula in the fridge. I tried to feed him awhile ago, and I guess he was too full to take it after a mea, so I put it in the fridge again. Do you think it would be safe for me to try to give it to him later today, for example to mix it with his cereal? Or should I completely throw it out? Thanks

Unfortunately you have to dump any unused feed after two hours from making it. Even refrigeration is not good as bacteria could be present. Bearing in mind the bottle has been in baby's mouth and mouths are notoriously bad for harbouring bacteria, even babies.we use pre made formula you can buy for times where we may need to give more. You can warm it quickly. Can be expensive but no more so than chucking unused formula. We use both types so cn offer smaller amounts if needed.

You need to throw it away - made-up formula gets pretty vile quickly!

Like the PP said - you could use premade carton formula if you are concerned about wastage but this is more expensive.

Yep, throw it out. It really does go off and smells terrible after awhile. I wouldn't want to drink that, so certainly wouldn't feed it to my baby. Maybe just make a smaller bottle to start and then make extra if he wants more. But really, 6 wasted oz is only a few p, so better to err on the side of safety than to try to save a few p.

Thanks ladies,
I have heard and read that formula is good within 24 hrs if pre made and stored immediately in the fridge. Is this correct? Considering baby doesn't touch it?

What I do is premake enough for 24 hours in a covered pitcher and put it in the fridge. I pour bottles when needed...it says on the can for powdered formula refrigerated formula lasts up to 24 hours if baby hasnt drank from it/it hasnt been sitting out.

Mine says 48 hours but we use concentrated formula. If she doesn't finish her bottle, I put it back in the fridge and give it to her next time. After twice, I throw it out. It never smells bad and we haven't had any problems. Maybe it is different with powdered. With the concentrate, when I open a can I make up the whole cans worth of formula (25oz) and put it in bottles in the fridge.
