Has,anyone had bub get stuck on previous preg
My little guy got stuck and ended up with a stroke
He has epilepsy, cerebral palsy and autism.
I'm just wondering if id be mad to not push for a section this time.
In a normal preg there is a .5% chance of it happening
In my case with a prev one it goes up to 10-15%

Having said that obvs recovery be better with vag birth.
Plus my ds cant walk
So not being able to lift him fir a few weeks after c section
Would be horrible
But Oh would stay home with us for 4-5 weeks.
Any one with previous shoulder dystocia ( prob spelt wrong :))
Or any advice

I haven't met my consultant yet.
Will next week.
Obvs ill talk to him too
But trying to sort it out in my head a bit now
Xx

What factors do your doctors think contributed to shoulder dystocia the first time? Was your son an unusually large baby? Did you have gestational diabetes? There are a lot of variables to consider in evaluating the risk for recurrence, but generally I think cesarean delivery is recommended for women with a history of shoulder dystocia, especially when there were such severe complications.

We had this problem with #2 but it was caused solely because DS came out sooo fast. Once his head was out there wasn't enough time for his body to turn before mine pushed him out the rest of the way. For the first few days he couldn't move his arm at all on the side where he broke his collar bone, but then as it was healin he started to be able to use it more and more. Now it's like nothing ever happened. My doctors don't seem concerned this time, even though we have a hx of it, and I'm borderline gd this time. I'm planning to birth in either a squatted position or on all 4s since that opens things up quite a bit more.

Bananas I didn't hve gd.
I was,warned I might be having a big baby
His bones were big, he was tall
But was only 7 9 after.
I myself think its because i hve a tilted uterus and
Bub had broad shoulders.
My uterus hadn't changed so I think risk is still high enough.
Both Oh and me hve big frames and r rall
So likely this bub would be too.

I was induced due to cholestatsis and I don't think bub or my body was ready for it either
But its very likely it would come back this time too
So the risk factors r prob pretty much the same

In my head I know I should go for section
To be safer
But part of me still thinks vag birth could be ok
I'll see what my Dr thinks too.
Thanks xxx

Thanks chicken momma xxx
Hope all goes well for u honey
Id cholestatsis comes back they hve to hve me on the trace all the time
Which means on my back which def didn't help matters either.
Cos the induction wasn't working
I was on the max drip for over a day
So had to get epidural
Which also didn't help
Cos I couldn't get mobile.
If I could hve walked around it might hve speeded things up
But u cant walk with the trace and epidural I had I couldn't hve walked with either

I presume they will monitor ur bub for size and decide then with gd? Xx
How u doin now? Xx

Boo! Hopefully that wont be the case with you this time. If you can labor in different positions that could be all that you need. :hugs:

Im doing really well, aside from the SPD. We've been having growth checks on him and hes actually on the smaller side, hanging out around the 30th percentile, so I think we'll be good to go for the vaginal delivery again. DS was consistently in the 75% I believe and 8lbs at birth. I have a feeling this little one will be around 6-7lbs if we continue on this growth curve. I just had a growth check on him last week and since hes measuring smaller, they dont need me to come back in until Im 32/33 weeks to check him again.

My youngest was born with shoulder dystocia. It was a very traumatic birth. I was 10 days overdue and was induced.

He weighed 10lb 5oz.

I have told the consultant that I would like anextra GD test and growth scans to keep an eye on this ones weight. If I feel at all unsure I will be pushing for a section.

In my gut I knew my last baby was huge and something was going to go wrong. My first two births were a walk in the park and I had no ill feelings leading up to them. So I'm a strong believer in going with your instincts.

My first was 7lb 6oz.
My second was 9lb 11oz.
And third 10lb 5oz.

They aren't getting smaller and I myself and a very small framed person so I fear if this ones any bigger I will end up with an emergency section anyway (which nearly happened last time).

Push for what makes you feel confident. You need to feel in control of your own body. Good luck!

:hugs:

No experience but as it stand s with the facts I would personally push for a c section but I think its best to wait until you have spoke to the consultant and had more opinoins from people who have been in the situation :flower:

my second son had shoulder dystocia (although he did not have any issues after the birth).. im having a c section this time

Thanks ladies xxx

Chicken momma I'm really looking forward to my next scan.
Haven't had a scan measuring growth for 7 weeks.
If my bump is anything to go by I think ill be measuring ahead :)
Baby's size def plays a huge role.
Glad ur feeling well hon and things r looking good for ye xx

Imaceful thanks too.
Hope this bub isn't too much bigger
But ur babies seem to be following a trend :)
Thanks for advice.
Hope all goes great for u

Lucas mom thanks
I'm veering towards section at the mo
But depends on Dr , growth scans and how I feel as preg goes on
Thank u xx

3 babes thank you.
I reckon I prob be the same as you hon.
Not sure I can risk it after what happened ds.
