Hello lovelies! Excited to finally be in my second trimester.

Quick background, I am just over 5 ft, small build (but always had quite a pudgy gut due to eating sweets) and this is my first pregnancy.

I noticed I was actually starting to "show" a bit of a bump (that wasn't just bloat) a couple weeks ago. Was just a little bump low down near where baby was.

I am now about 13+5, and my bump feels like its grown, drastically, in the past couple days. My upper stomach is even sticking out, and my bump looks similar to my friend (who is 21 weeks with her first, same body type as me), and I also feel a bit bigger around, like my sides and back. I look like my stomach has gained about 5-7 lbs, though I have actually only gained about 2 lbs total. When I came to work Monday people were pointing out that I had "popped". My DH even pointed out tonight that I was suddenly showing a lottt.

Does this seem normal? Had a few scans and there is only one baby in there, it's just surprising that I am already showing so much. I know a lot of people don't start showing with their first until 16+... Thought it might have had something to do with always having had a chubby belly, but it was always lower down, upper tummy was always flat until now.

It's late right now, but tomorrow I will post a bump pic.

I've always been excited about getting a nice bump, but because it's so early and baby is still really low but the bump is higher too, I just feel fat (and my sister thinks I am just pushing out my stomach to look bigger). I'm sure I'm just obsessing over nothing, but just wanted some thoughts from other moms-to-be.

Thanks!!

Ok I can't sleep haha, so I took some pics. First picture is my 12+3ish bump, other is 13+5 (today)

I feel like I'm going crazy, I feel way bigger in real life than I look in that pic. But still seems big for 13w.

hey hun... your uterus is only just out of your pelvis (well supposed to be) at 13 weeks like 1cm or 2......

so other than 1cm above your pelvic bone where ur uterus is its probably not baby just yet....

they usually stay tucked in pretty well that early on

i looked similar to u and it turned out to be bloat when one day at 18 weeks it dissapeared then i woke up with a bump at 20 weeks lol

this pic shows how big your uterus is now...

unless ur further than u thought or your just lucky and getting an early bump :)

nothin to be concerned about tho... id rather be bigger than smaller lol

you look pregnant to me hun! :) I was the same though that early! all your internal organs are all pushed up to make room for your baby to grow and some people 'swell' more than others from it early on.. of course you can still call it your 'baby bump' afterall it is your baby that has made your insides move! congratulations x

Thanks ladies! Yeah I had never seen that diagram either.
The only thing that made me think it wasn't bloat is that I always look like that now, even first thing in the morning.
Organs being pushed up does make sense though too.

:)

I experienced a heavy bloat until about 10 or 11 weeks, and a mild bloating until my 14th week. A lot of people have theirs subside around 16 weeks, so what you're experiencing may or may not be a bloat. Everyone's different. I actually had to ask my OB just to verify, but at my 13 week appt, she said it seemed all uterus to her! But I've also always been very small and a fitgeek.

If you said you've always had a small pudge, and this is your first(people tend to show earlier with their second since they're already all stretched out), then chances are you are showing, but still have some bloat going there. You can always check with your OB. Either way, you look pregnant!

I started showing around 16 weeks... Was bloat mostly before..imo u look pregnant not bloated.cute:-)

Thanks ladies! Keep getting comments from people at work asking if I'm having twins haha. But glad to know it can be normal. I do bloat sometimes in the evening but I still have quite a bump first thing in the morning now. Glad I don't just look fat though haha!
