My little girl, who just turned one last week, has an ear infection. She has had a fever for 4 days now and is refusing pretty much all food and is not really drinking water either. Before she got sick, we were down to just 2 bottles a day (morning and bedtime), but since she hasn't been eating I have been resorting to giving her bottles in place of food. For instance, she would not take one bite of lunch today despite me offering 3 of her favorite foods so I ended up giving her a bottle. Over the past few days she has been having 4-5 bottles per day.

She is a horribly picky eater on a good day and it has made me question what I am doing. I am really worried that it will be hard to get meal times back to normal once she is feeling better. What would you do?

Yes I think you're doing the right thing. I did the same thing recently and when my LO got better we went back again to his 1 bottle a day.

I it was me and my dd wouldn't eat anything or drink water I'd give her bottles. She needs to keep hydrated at least and if it's all she'll taken you just do what you have to. I can see where it might be difficult getting her back to eating but cross that bridge when you come to it.

I don't know if it's the right advice but it's what I'd do.

I would do the same. It will keep her hydrated she probably just doesn't want to eat as she is poorly and will be back to eating normally when she starts feeling better x

She's only just turned 1, honestly milk is the best thing for her to keep her hydrated and nourished. Even as a toddler at 18 months + sometimes they need milk a lot when they are ill or teething. My little one is teething and getting over a virus and she's having a lot of breastfeeds at the moment. I'm not worried, her eating will pick up when she's better x
