Well, annie has been suffering with sickness and looss poohs on and off since Friday. Got advice from a nurse of fri but she got bad again today so got in with a doc and he said to put her on water only for 24hrs, giving 1/2oz every 30 mins.

It was an evening appointment, so she only had 2 lots before bed, so she's basically only had 1oz water since she was sick at 4pm.

So.... should I keep dusturbing her through the night to give her fluids, or just try her if she wakes? I tried giving her some about 8.30 but she wasn't interested and screamed for 45mins! I'm about to go to bed and would normally dream feed her, so do I try water instead or leave it?

As a side note, he said it could be a bad teething reaction - he witnessed her biting the hell out of a toy while we were there, and we actually seem to be able tp feel something sharp at the back but she won't let us see
(I know its usually front ones first but she likes to be different lol). Has anyone elses lo had bad sickness when teething?

Sorry for the long post but I'm stressing and feeling like I can't get anything right at the moment!

I went through something a little the same with Ellie awhile back, When I took her to see the doc they didnt see anything wrong with her but told me to keep her off her milk for 24hours and they gave me some Dioralyte sachats to mix in with water to give her instead. At first she took it fine but then I could really tell she wanted her milk so I gave in and kept giving her bits of milk. She still had runny poos for a few days and kept bringing bits of her milk back up but it soon passed.
I couldnt bare her crying knowing she was wanting her milk and she stopped even taking her water. Do what you think is best for your lo hun, you know her better than anyone.
I thought I could have been teething with Ellie but this was a while ago and STILL no teeth :dohh: I think it was just a little bug.
Hope your lo is better soon hun :hugs:

Hi hun. Hope she gets better soon. Omar had a nasty tummy bug at 6 mnths, & he was constantly throwing up & his poo was soo runny. He was given some medications, & his Dr. adviced me to give him deluted feeds using 3 oz of water with 1 scoop of formula as Omar used to refuse taking plain water. He also advised me to boil some rice & use the water to help settling his tummy (it helps for loose poo). If she's sleeping try not to desturb her sleep hun, when she wakes up offer her few sips of water, but dont force it as it would make her sick. I dont know if u'r BFing or FFing, but switching to LF (lactose free) formula (the same brand she uses) for 1 wk also helps to settle he tummy xx

ETA: He was also given Dioralyte sachats to prevent dehydration xx

Thanks ladies. We already went through the water only and watered down milk over the weekend and she was pretty much recovered, but then she went downhill again: ( think it was too much tpo soon. Doc said if she won't keep water down I've to take het to hospital, but luckily she's been fine so far

I'll leave her to sleep and make sure there's a bottle of water ready for her if she wakes.

Sorry, duplicate post thankd to my dumb phone
