Sorry for the silly question!

I have got to take bottles to the hospital with me as I am planning on Formula Feeding. I obviously need to sterilise them which I have done, but I am worried because I let them dry out before putting the lids on and packing them in the hospital bag. Does that mean they are no longer sterile?

If I sterilise them again and then put the lids straight on to pack them, won't they be all steamy and condensationy inside?

not sure... but u can actually get already sterile disposable bottles... ideal to take to the hospital.
xx

dont they give you them little made up sma glass bottle things at the hospital? thats what they did when i had sophia, and then they attach a sterilised teat, im not sure :-S she only had one then i breast fed. xx

They should be fine, you usualy get like a vent in the steriliser unit, that allows air in after an they normaly dry in it, as for the hospital mine supplies the disposable glass bottles with formula already inside them, check with your mw, you shouldnt need to take your own. Last i heard hospitals will not sterilise your own bottles for you, and they ask you to just wash em in hot soapy water.

Thanks for the replies. My hospital definitely does not supply bottles or formula and I have been told by my midwife I have to bring my own.

I have just bought some disposable ones from boots as I dont think (from memory) you can do them at the hospital

I'm bottle feeding (as I did with my first) I've just packed the bottles in their original packaging & formula in my hospital bag.

When I had my first I was given a few ready made bottles where you just add a teat (as someone said earlier) then I was shown on maternity ward how to sterilise/make bottles - the hospital provided the sterilisers & sterilising tablets. I'm assuming this will still be the case, I'm going for my pre op tomorrow (C section booked for Thurs) so I will ask then about bottles etc.

I won't be provided with anything at the hospital. If I can be bothered I will look for the sterile ones you can buy but if not I will just have to take bottles with condensation!

my hospital states to take 2 bottles, bottle brush and ready made formula-you know the stuff in the cartons?

They provide the 1st feed in the glass bottles (like some of the other ladies have said)so that gives enough time for them to put the bottles/teats that you bring in,into the steralising solution to be ready for next feed :D
