i had one of these when i was younger! my mum used it for me and my sister then gave it to me as a toy pram!! (i was gentle with it!) Gosh how much are they worth now then? x They are huge things in comparison to pushchairs today!! xx

i might get my daughter a dolls one just to fill my need to have one.

When you say 'heritage pram' do you mean like this? : https://www.lullabys.co.uk/shop/images/Prams/Silver_Cross/kensington/navy_navy.jpg

I do have a black one exactly like this, left over from when my own children were tiny ... it's been in my loft for years and it needs a bit of tlc before I'd be happy selling it to anyone, but if you are really interested then I'd have time to restore it .....and I'm a long way away from you (though I could probably arrange to get it as far as Newton Le Willows for you) :flower:

there are a few more on there here is the link.

hope this helps an you find the pram you want.

I hop you have a big house and wide doors because theyre HUGE.

i bet they are very heavy as well.

They are big and bulky, but I had mine in a little old fashioned 2 bedroom terrace and it fitted through the doors and in the corner of the back/dining room without any trouble at all.

They are actually lighter than they look ... much lighter than most travel systems and Soooooooo comfy and snug for baby :happydance: plus you don't have to carry raincovers around with you, the shopping tray is HUUUUGE and can fit a whole week's shopping on it (very useful if you live close to town and don't want to use a car to go shopping), everyone gets out of the way for them :haha: and when you have a toddler and another baby there is plenty of room for a little toddler seat on the front (I have one of those too), so there is no need for a double buggy :cloud9:

Hi Girls

I display Vintage Coach Built Prams for Help for Heroes. I basically restore them but they are baby friendly. I have 11 altogether all different styles, countries and colours. I will be using mine daily as we live semi rural and I like to walk. The attention these Prams get when I use them is tremendous. You cannot get anywhere. Everyone wants to stop and reminisce. I have just bought an Osnath for £200 with canopy and silk bedding. Ebay.

You will never lose money on the older versions as these value with age. Mine are from 1930-1960. The , 70's 80's models are cheaper however.

Do not expect new Prams they have chrome pitting and discoloured linings but this just gives them more appeal. The Prams bounce around and baby always sleeps well, but are not easily transportable.

There worth every penny if you want something special and dont want to always use a buggy. ( I do have a Bugaboo for practicability)

Someone on ebay has started to rent them out I will look for the link

Look this one up on ebay items 110583281198

item hire 130430375226

Or go into Baby -Prams & Pushchairs- type in Coach Built Pram or Vintage Pram and they will list up. If they are old though do not expect new .

Alex - to what extent do you restore them?

Mine needs a little work on scratches to the coach work (although the chrome is unpitted and shiny :) ) which I can manage myself...

But there is a small tear in the hood lining and I would love to re-line it (and the interior body to match) - is this something you have done yourself? and if so do you have any pointers?

If possible I'd also like to restore the hood and apron to jet black again :dohh:

Hi

I just restore to the best of my ability. I use the little paint pot you get from carft shops (small cars, trains etc). I get one or two pots and mix on a plate until I get close on the original colour. You cannot get an exact match to touch in, on pot colour alone. I have a really dark Navy LBC and had to mix Navy and Black to achieve the old fashioned colour. Hood and aprons run at about £175-200 new replaced with new linings. I will post links to them.

I have relined a few of my prams. Its hard fiddly work , messy as old horse hair inside Vintage Prams and costly if you make a mistake. Putting a new hood and apron on is very hard and I would advise pay to get it done properley.

Just having this done actually hides other minor faults anyway.

If you go to this link and scroll down the left hand side you will see New hoods & Aprons amongst other things. https://www.classycanopies.com/frenchpramrestoration.htm

I absolutely adore these old Prams

Thanks for those links Alex :D :hugs:

I adore these old prams too .... I just couldn't bring myself to sell it on once my children had all used it so I kept it in the hope that my children might like to use it  I've been meaning to restore it ever since :haha:

Sadly my daughter wasn't interested at all ... she wanted a modern travel system and, like most people nowadays, she doesn't like it's sheer size and non-transportability.

The thing is - if you do a lot of walking rather than using a car then they are SO much better than modern buggies - more comfortable to push, more comfortable for baby, more space to carry stuff.

I've done upholstery in the past so I might have a look at the viability of re-lining myself - the problem is that I have athe sun canopy for it too and that matches the current lining so I might have to re-cover that too :dohh: I really am not so keen on buying a new hood and apron ... they are in perfect condition externally - just a bit faded
