I have to admit I'm pretty bad when it comes to skin care. I'll wash my face 2 or 3 times a day with simple or no7 face wash and then moisturise with no7. I'm really bad when it comes to cleansing & toning.......infact I can't remember the last time I did

So I need to to start looking & testing products. I've tried No7 clenser & toner but it made my face sting a little, I've also tried clinique wash (the green one) but it made my skin dry :dohh:

I really don't know what else to use - can anyone recomend anything?

I have funny skin, I tend to get a breakout (lasts about a 9days) the week before AF comes. My face goes greasy but I'll also have patches of little dry bits. I have to be quite careful what moisturiser I use (its taken me ages to find the one i use) If its too creamy it makes my face greasy but if its not thick enough my face goes dry.

Can anyone recomend anything?? :flower:

For the run up to my wedding I did the following:

Used Liz Earle Hot Cloth and Polish in the mornings - calming and cleansing. Applied a little moisturiser to cheeks below my eyes, left the rest of my face.
Used Dermalogica Ultra Calming Cleanser at night and applied Lancome Absolut Aqua serum.

Body Shop body scrub in the shower for 2 weeks running up to the wedding for all over exfoliation.

Oh and lots of tea tree oil for any breakouts and tried not to touch my face and scraped my fringe back when I got in from work every day so that my face was clear from anything touching it.

Also, if you have dry bits, I really recommend rubbing in a mm of Neutrogena Intensive Hand Cream in to those areas (it's kind of clear and very very concentrated) - works a treat without hitting your 'greasy' areas I find.

Oh and if you get breakouts and oily skin, then I highly recommend Body Shop's Tea Tree facial moisturiser - it gets rid of shinyness and excess oil :)

I would reccommend Dermalogica, but then I would say that as I use it :haha:

The products your using now does it say which skin type they are for ? eg Dry, Oily, Normal etc.

Liz Earle products are fab, Hot Cloth and Cleanser, followed by Instant Boost skin Tonic. Liz Earle moisturiser is fab (I too have greasy and dry bits) and if required either their Instant Refreshing Mask once a week, or their clay mask. I was really struggling with hormonal breakouts but its been working a treat x

Dunno about the answer to your Q but does Wobbles get an after invite with free champers ..........

......cheeky cow I hear you I hear you  but will come have a glass with you after the fuss x

I bought myself some Body shop tea tree face wash, a weekly mask, day facial mosituriser and night blemish control. Completed an online thing about my skin etc and it recomended Tea Tree and its free delivery  Only 2 days in and its not greasy at all. Might have to do one day the tea tree moisturiser and the next day my normal no7 as seems to be a little dry near my mouth.

I have a simple wash which is just for senitive skin and no7wash is for oily combo skin.

Going to try my Tea tree and see how I get on as didn't want to start spending loads on really high end products if I can avoid it.

What does Liz Earle Hot Cloth and Polish do and what sort of prices are we looking at? I do want to use something good nearer the time and since a couple of you have recomended it - would maybe like to get some.

The Hot Cloth and Polish Cleanser is a cleansing cream, that you wipe off with the muslin cloth that you make as hot as you can make it, thereby exfoliating and removing gunk from your pores at the same time. You then follow it up with the Skin Tonic (which acts as a toner). In John Lewis, you can get gift bags which include 2 x muslin cloths, cleanser, tonic, face scrub and skin oil (sounds odd, but really good for greasy skin!) for around £35 - the contents of which will last around 6 weeks. Think seperately the cleanser is around £12-14

Hiya,

I'm a beauty therapist so may be able to help in a professional capacity. Firstly, how long have you got till your wedding?? If you are looking at over 6 months, go to all the beauty counters you can find, beauty salons etc and get a handful of samples. Try them all in their ranges and find something that you find FEELS nice to use, you like the smell etc. DON'T look at the results you get from using something for 2 days. From your description (although it is very evry difficult to tell without seeing your skin) that your skin is just dehydrated. NOT dry, NOT oily/greasy. Breakouts occur on every skin type due to hormones and can best be controlled by being careful with your skincare routine.
As you seem to not really be into skincare as such, I would recommend finding a cleanser you enjoy using (if you enjoy it, you will use it more often) and use this twice a day - am & pm. Try Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish - a remarkable good cleanser for the price. Please Please Please don't use anything out of boots or clinque or anything designed for spot prone skin. Don't faff around with toner, just remove your cleanser with a hot flannel/cloth and ensure you rub it off well, paying particular attention to your hairline, nose creases and chin. Twice a day, use a moisturiser for dehydrated skin. Something light and enriching but not creamy. A good one for this is Decleor Hydra Floral. Feels very light and sinks in quick leaving your skin very soft. Its costly, but one tub will last 6/8months if used in the right quantities.
A very important part of your routine leading up to weddings is an exfoliator. This will brighten up skin and help any breakout's when they occur. Do it twice a week gently, and I mean twice a week, not one vigorous scrub, or 3 gentle ones. One of the most common problems when it comes to skincare routines going wrong is when you don't listen to what we recommend and declare it doesnt work when you did it wrong
So Simply:

AM - Cleanse, remove with hot flannel & moisturise
PM - Cleanse, remove with hot flannel & moisturise
2 x a week - exfoliate after your normal cleanse (remove with hot cloth)

If you want to do more, then pm me and I'll give you some more pointers. I think its best to get into a routine doing this first then if you remember and manage this, then do more. :hugs:
