When Charlie sleeps he seems really unsettled, he whimpers scrunches his face up and makes sum really strange noises, iv tryed winding him before put him down but he never seems to burp! he doesnt cry but he doesnt sound happy! he seems to be having trouble breathing out of his nose at the moment as well i dont know if that has anything to do with the restlessness (is that a word!?) he'll also only go to sleep on me then i have to put him down he wont drift off to sleep on his own! its starting too worry me because of the breathing thing, it could just be a stuffed nose which is exactly what it sounds like but i dont know if that would be affecting his sleeping?

Grace does exactly the same, sometimes i think she's crying and when i check on her she's fast asleep. She also screws up her face and makes grunting noises and sometimes throws her arms up. I always wind her too. I have no idea what it could be

Grunting! thats the exact word i was looking for haha..its really strange i always thought babys were supposed to be quite when there asleep!

i find it hard to sleep coz im listening too him! hes a really noisy eater too...i guess hes just a nosiy kid!

Yeah she guzzles something rotten, sounds like she's never been fed, you can hear her gulping it down like there's no tomorrow! I just noticed your LO is a day older than mine :)

My little boy does the exact same thing as both your babies.. Its funny to me... Aside from the stuffy nose, which he also has. Jaedan makes faces and noises, he smiles and sometimes looks sad as if he wants to cry - all while he's asleep. He also throws up his arms (hahahah!! i love this) when he's sleeping. Sometimes it takes me an hour of holding him and rocking him until he's deep enough into sleep before I am able to put him down in his crib without him waking up. But I guess that this is just normal seeing that we all are experiencing the same behavior with the little ones.. :)

Actually most babies are naturally very noisy sleepers - which makes the expression - sleeping like a baby laughable! I often waken to check if my baby is asleep and sure enough he's fast asleep!
Zarababy - it does sound like your baby has wind - try inclining the cot it might be a little more comfy.

Gracie is exactly the same - really snuffley, we call her our little snuffle monster she makes so much noise! Me being me I was so worried about her that I took her to the Dr's the other day and said she sounded like she was struggling to breathe, Dr checked her thoroughly and said she seemed fine - he also gave me a tip for checking if they have any problem breathing.. He said to open up the baby grow so you can see chest and watch her breathing for a few breaths, if there is any problem with chest (ie chest infection etc) then the skin would wrap into the contours of the ribs deeply with each breath. If that is all fine then he said to look at her nostrils and if they are opening and closing really fast then that can be a sign of troubled breathing too. Needless to say Gracie was fine lol and I was just being my usual over worried self!

Reassuring to know I'm not the only one who's baby has the snuffles!! x

my little man is exactly the same. he is always dreaming. he wakes himself up flailing his arms about. i find if i swaddle him so his arms are kept down he's much quieter and sleeps for longer. also, if he sleeps in with us he's quieter. so maybe they get worried when alone?

i put a blanket folded up under the top of his mattress so hes slightly inclined and he seems to be alot quieter! still snuffely like hehe

Zara - sorry I forgot to say you might want to try some infacol - helps to bring the wind up. It is suitable from birth and available in most pharmacies and big supermarkets too.

My auntie told me to get infacol i got some about 2 days ago it seems to be working he gets his wind up alot easyer after a feed and he seems too sleep longer too!

Glad to hear it Zara. Must be a bit easier now.
Good stuff!

The say that babies dream a lot more than adults...maybe that is why they are such noisy sleepers! My boy sometimes laughs in his sleep!
