Sleeping on tummy

My 14 week old has learned to roll onto his tummy and he does so at every opportunity, even though he is not a huge fan of tummy time.

I discovered him face down on the monitor at night and went to make sure his head was tilted to the side, which it was. I then tried to put him on his back and of course ended waking him up and had to feed him back to sleep.

Should I just let him sleep on his tummy? When will the novelty of rolling wear off? He also tries to go straight to tummy after eating and it makes him spit up alot. I walked out of the room for 30 seconds and came back to a baby whose face was covered in spit up, I had to wipe it out of his eyelashes. As soon as I put him down he works on rolling, and he can't roll back onto his back either.

The advice is that when they can roll then you don't have to move them back, but always put them down on their back to sleep. Both my children have tummy slept since birth as would not settle on their back with their reflux. Unfortunately it meant a few bed changes with spit up but it meant they slept.

Yes, if they can roll there isn't much you can do about it! My LO did the same thing at 4.5 months. She could roll back to front but not front to back and I was terrified! I spent a few nights not sleeping and constantly checking on her/trying to turn her back, but it was fine and she generally slept better like that!

Thanks everyone. I'll let him be if he rolls over. I will probably be spending the next few nights checking on him more often until I get comfortable that he is not smothering himself. Hopefully he won't be in a puddle of spit up too often. Might have some problems after his night feed if he decides to roll after it.
