My LO was on 6oz bottles every 4 hours and doing really well. The past week she has started sleeping through the night, therefore missing out on 12oz of milk. Do i need to give her more in the daytime, as it seems a lot of milk to reduce as she gone from 36oz a day to 24oz a day, or do i follow her lead and if she is hungry she will let me know????

Ava has been sleeping 7:30-5 then bottle and back to sleep for another 3 hours (taking 6 6oz bottles per day) for the last week she's slept 7:30-7:30 so has lost a bottle but doesn't seem any hungrier during the day and is still going her normal 3 hours. I'm just following her lead, at the moment she's happy and content so i'm happy :)

Maybe try upping to 7oz bottles and see how your lo does? xx

I would also try upping to 7oz. Is she draining her bottles?

I would just offer more in each daytime bottle and that should cover it.

My LO has just started to increase her daytime milk to compenstate for her night time feed. She was only really drinking 2-3oz in the night so wasn't really missing out on too much milk in the night.

If my LO drains a few bottles I tend to try and make her a bigger one, however she usually ends up drinking less than she would in the first place! I have found if I stick to my normal amount and she finishes it I can always make an extra ounce or two if she is hungry. I have wasted loads of formula by trying to second guess when she wants that extra ounce or two! If you tot it up over the course of a few days its nearly a full days worth of milk...Sorry I am the skinflint! Formula is soo expensive esp if you waste it! :) X

If she's happy then it's find, as others have said maybe try upping the amount of feed or try give her one extra bottle in the day. But if she refuses it I still wouldnt worry.

I gave her an extra oz in one of her bottles and it she just brought it back up. She fine in herself, and i am sure she will let me know if she is hungry :)

I feed my LO 6oz and if she wants more inbetween i give her another couple of ounces, She'll sort herself out in a few days i'm sure.

you los sound just like mine!!! i just now got emma to take a 5oz bottle and was amazed as usually she still only takes 3oz and she is 4 months on the 6th! her next bottle she will probably only take 2-3oz...i never know!!

it sounds like your lo is sorting her eating/sleeping out which is wonderful. like others have mentioned...if she still seems hungry offer her another oz. good luck :flower:

is your LO on 9th percentile michelle25? - it used to worry me but he's levelling off so he's been called a 'slim jim' and the health visitors still want to monitor him but think hes good yea hes done well taking 4oz feeds all day today, just attempted a 5oz...he took half an oz...very annoyed lol, i guess sometimes adding an oz more can end up with a reverse situation like this so now ive wasted a whole feed, but breaking them up for him he gets angry at the wait and cries his hunger away - CAN'T WIN!!!

if anyone finds the perfect bloody solution write a bloody book and ill buy it!

How is she getting on moonitee? :flower:

she is gaining weight. last time i took her was about 3 weeks ago (for poor feeding and a slew of other issues) the pedi didnt seem concerned because she was "following her curve." i should have asked what it was but i was already feeling stupid and crazy for bringing her bc he more or less brushed off everything i was concerned about. i get so nervous about her losing weight i feel like i am constantly trying to feed her..with the idea that maybe this bottle she will drink more...i too waste ALOT of formula.

it seems that we have the exact same issues michelle...dom was dismissed too,but you cant help but want your LO to gain weight...i suppose its better than being majorly overweight, but none of us can win...ever! :(

Hey Maybaby, she is doing fine. Now and again she will take a bigger bottle, but just seems happy with her 6oz for now, so will stick with that and give her extra if she wants it. She is a very hapy baby and very content so obviously not starving!!!!
