REALLY BLOND QUESTION ALERT

The plan when the boys come home is to have moses baskets in our room to start with (would prefer to start them in their own room but SIDS website advises against this)

I was just thinking could we put them both in one cot instead of two moses baskets? Just would be a space saver to have one cot in our room from day 1 and if so how - do you top and tail them so thier heads would meet?

hehehe sorry if its really random

Mine only used their moses baskets at night for a short while, then we slept them in the cotbed. Initially side by side with feet at one end, then we started using grobags we slept them with feet and heads to the sides of cot.

y is that a blonde question? i asked this before too! my girls sleep in the same cot. always have done and they wont sleep apart. if one is taken out of the cot the other will wake within seconds and cry. ill lay them down on their backs and 2 seconds later theyve rolled onto their sides facing ech other, its really sweet. i often look over to see them sucking eachothers fingers or holding each other. they were snuggled close together for 8 months in my womb so im not going to separate them yet, not until i feel they are ready.

if i had twins id keep them in the same cot definatly!

thanks all xxxx

So they are OK side by side then lol - cool fantastic!!!

In my room I'm going to have them in a pack 'n play I believe. But, once they go in their own room, they will share a crib for a while. I might end up moving the crib into my room for the first bit but unsure. I plan to transition them into their own crib around 6-9 months but we'll see what they think of it.

Since my mom was staying with me for 6 months to help with the babies, I initially planned on one baby sleep with her and one sleep with me. I told my husband this idea and his reaction was don't they need to sleep together? I think for the first few months they will be small enough to sleep together. So probably will sleep with me during nights.

Charlotte and Tom slept together. They were side by side initially until that got too crowded and then top and tail until they rubbed heads. Now they just share a room but every now and again they snuggle in together. :cloud9:

TBH I wouldn't bother with moses baskets. We bought 2 cot beds and put one downstairs initially and one upstairs.

My twins never slept together, they even separated them in hospital because they kept waking each other first night they were born.
They slept in our room for 8 weeks in separate moses baskets.

oh yeh thought id add, if you do put them together side by side then its a good idea to always put scratch mittens on them as they will scratch each others faces

my twins have never sleep together, they were in their own moses baskets and are now in their cot beds in their own room. They were seperated at the hospital when Chloe was taken to SCBU for a few days and we just kept it that way as they seemed happy.
xx

They will probably sleep with me for the first couple of weeks, then get moved..I dont kow though..This whole twins thing threw me..I had it down with one..Two is so neat and exciting, and unknown!

Vicky -> What "SIDS" web site stated that babies shouldn't sleep in their own room (in the beginning)? I've never heard such a thing. Was it specifically multiples? I'm going to ask my doctor about it, thanks for the heads up.

Until I hear differently, mine will sleep in their own room from the beginning. I will also sleep in there as my husband has to work and I don't want the babies (or me getting up) waking him up.

I haven't decided if I'll put them in the same crib at the beginning (I will be buying 3 cribs). Like baboo said, I'll probably see how they adjust in the NICU and take it from there.

20 weeks pregnant with triplets (di/di identical boys, fraternal girl)

Research does show that there is a decrease in SIDS when they sleep in the same room as your in the very beginning. Pacifiers are also a SIDS decreaser.

My two slept in the same crib when we were in hospital but started to really irritate and scratch the hell out of each other by the end of our stay. Now that we are home, they are currently sleeping in seperate moses baskets in our room and i plan to keep them in with us until they outgrow their baskets. I then plan to put them in seperate cotbeds in their own room (I'm guessing they will probably be about 2-3 months old by then). We just think this is probably best as they annoy each other so much, even if they are placed side by side on their activity mat lol

I also read that two babies sleeping together have an increased chance of SIDS. I read this on wikipedia so dunno how accurate it is.

I have heard the opposite. When evenone sleeps with mama, they feel the heartbeat, and can better regulate theirs by hers. Same with twins..They keep themselves on track..Just what I heard..they don't know for sure either..Give them ten years, and they will change it again..always happens.
