Hello,
I had a MMC in August, and i am now pregnant again! However this was very un expected and i was trying to loss weight from the previous pregnancy.
I embarked on the slim fast diet..and all in all i only did it for a few days before i found out i was pregnant. But i have now found that Slim fast has a high amount of vitimain A which can lead to sever birth defects. I am now absolutely petrified.. after loosing a baby a few months ago, id hate to think the same thing was going to happen again at my own hands!!
has anyone else been in this position before? or gone to have a successful pregnancy after having slimfast?

Thank you

I've never had Slim Fast, but I did just look up the maximum recommended intake for vitamin A during pregnancy and unless you were drinking 6+ Slim Fast shakes a day you didn't exceed it. Even if you did have that many, it's very unlikely a few days of extra vitamin A would've been enough to cause any harm.

Obviously you shouldn't be doing Slimfast when you know you are pregnant.

But if you were doing it before you got your bfp then no harm will come of it. The baby doesn't take much from you at that stage anyway. Also, think of all the women who have unplanned pregnancies. many of those will have been on regular multivitamins with Vit A in them, and only switch to antenatal ones when they find out they are pregnant.

Remember that a high percentage of pregnancies are not planned and those women were just going on as normal before hand and their babies end up being fine.

As long as you are not smoking, drinking loads, or taking drugs, you have no reason to worry about anything being your fault.

Thank you very much for your sensible replies and putting into perspective. No i stopped the slim fast as soon as i found out and i must have only been on it a couple of days. In all honesty i think i was being paraniod but im sure you understand

Thanks again for your replies
