Hello, I went for my first internal ultrasound last week at what I know to be 6 weeks and 4 days - temping, opk's etc. The doctor said she saw a healthy, round gestational sack with a good response, a yolk sack and pointed to a white line which she said was the start of the baby. She said it was too small to measure as I was probably only about 5 weeks and didn't seem to take much time with it at all.
My heart sank as I really wanted to see the baby with a heartbeat and I told her I was at least 6 weeks. She told me not to worry and come back in 2 weeks. She advised me not to get blood tests too?
I went home and cried myself to sleep and backed down 2 days ago and got a blood test. The hcg is measuring at 124,000! I go back tonight for a repeat.
If the baby had stopped growing at 5 weeks, why would the hcg be this high? I'm just hoping it was hiding on the first ultrasound. I'm so scared. Anybody else had this happen and then for everything to be ok?

Sorry, I should have added that I think I was 7 weeks and 1 day when I got my blood tested.

To answer your question - if your body hasn't realised something is wrong, hcg can continue to rise as normal.

:hugs: I'm sorry you are going through this.

I thought after a missed miscarriage your levels would slowly rise and then begin to fall? If it stopped growing at 5 weeks would it definately keep doubling? Even for 7 weeks, 124,000 seems extremely high.
Maybe I'm just trying to fool myself that everything is still ok. :(

124,000 does seem extremely high and then not see anything :(
Im no hcg expert, but with my miscarriage - when I had my bloods taken (I was already bleeding at this point) my levels where like 40 something thousand and decreasing, so who knows how high they get before our bodies figure it out.

I wish you the best of luck and I hope baby was just hard to find - you don't have a retroverted uterus by any chance? Ive heard that can make things hard to see.

I once had a scan and it said AVF position uterus - I think that is the opposite of retroverted but I'm not sure. Lets see what the levels are tonight. Another week until my scan feels like eternity. 2 weeks seems a bit excessive to me because surely they can tell in a week or so if anything is happening?
Thank you for your help, wish me luck x
