anyone have any experinces or thoughts to share? Here's the facts-

Freya is exclusively breastfed on demand.

She was born 6lbs 11oz but dropped to 6lbs 3oz by day five. We had some issues with poor latch and prolonged jaundice and it took her until day 20 to be back to birth weight.

3/4 weeks ago she was 8lbs 2

Today she was 8lbs 11.

Health visitor is going to reweigh next week then talk about options depending on what it shows.

She is always content after feeds, comes off the breast on her own time. Is in no discomfort or pain. Is alert and content throughout the day and does everything she should at this age. She spits up regularly throughout the day but only small amounts and no discomfort accompanying. Poops are yellow and wet nappies are normal. My milk is mainly hind milk at every feed, there's only a lot of fore milk if I'm full which only happens in the morning. She still feeds 1/2 at night. Dropped down slightly on her centiles.

Anybody experienced similar? Possibly just a slow gainer?

Can't think of anything else that is relevant.

Thank you :)

So no advice hun, but i would think as long as she is gaining there is no issue surely? She might just be a little dink <3

My DS3 was the same until he started solids at 4 months. He went from the 5th percentile at his 4 month well child check to the 80th percentile at his 6 month well child check to the 98th percentile at his year check!!
He was breastfed until 6 months until I had to stop for my health reasons.

Between 2 and 3 months my DD only gained 8oz. Before and after that she has gained fine so no one was worried. If she is otherwise happy and content I wouldn't worry too much about it.

My LO's have all been slow gainers as babies. For us it was just normal (DD2 is still under care of the paediatrician for slow gain/centile drops to rule out any issues but I'm confident he will say it's just normal for her like the others). How is her growth chart? Has she crossed many centiles? The things you've said about her being content on and off the breast, only waking once or twice a night to feed, normal nappies are all good signs :). I've always been advised that if LO is content, not too sleepy but also not waking frequently due to hunger and has plenty of wet nappies then I shouldn't be alarmed.

I would just keep at it. If she's only dropped down slightly in centiles, that shouldn't be a bit deal assuming she's not already at 2nd centile. There are often dips and jumps around that time when they go through growth spurts and gain in length or weight at different speeds. I would just keep doing what you're doing and re-visit it again next month when you have a weight in. I imagine you'll see it all evens out.

My daughter was very similar. Born at 6lbs 9oz. She had a lot of feeding issues and lost about 12% of her body weight in the first 2 days. She didn't regain birth weight until day 26. She's always been small, but I think that's just how she is. She's 3 years, 5 months now and she still fits 18-24 month clothes and just starting to move into 2-3 year sizes. But she has had big jumps, up to 70th centile and then leveling off after that. She was born at about 20th, dropped to 2nd, back up to 25th by 3 months and is just above 50th in weight now. I think just hang in there. If she's feeding well and happy, there's not much more you can do but keep feeding her on demand as much as she wants. But I'm guessing you'll probably see a jump by next month once she gets through a growth spurt that is coming. Mine was at around the 9th centile at 10 weeks and then 60th centile by 20 weeks.

She was bobbing somewhere between the second and 9th percentile from birth and is now sitting between the 0.4 and 2nd.

It's really reassuring to read everyone's responses. She's the first baby I've breastfed so I think I'm a little more sensitive about it that I would be otherwise.

Getting reweighed in five days doesn't really give a lot of time for her to put on though.
