Hey girlies! This is my first time posting on here, hope Im doing it correctly! Just looking to see if anyone has any advice at all..

My baby is 8 weeks. She was on SMA gold and was drinking roughly 9oz every 3 to 3.5 hours so we made the decision to try her on the hungry baby formula, mainlny because we were going through so much milk to be honest so thought it may save a bit of money, and also because I felt she was taking a lot and often compared to guideline etc...

Anyway since changing her milk she has seemed very constipated.. She goes bright red and is very obviously straining, and crying like she really is in pain. (TMI coming up... lol) her poo has been really hard, like fully formed.

I have tried giving her water, and have started just putting a little extra water in her bottle so hopefully this will make it a bit easier for her...

Do u think I should go back to the first milk, or could this just be a case of her getting used to a different milk?

Any comments much appreciated, thanks

We put Ella on SMA when the cow and gate upset her.
First we used the yellow but she wasn't filling up and rather than have more frequent feeds (she was doing 3hrs) or more milk (which she couldn't take then - 4oz) we gave her Hungry baby at night and first thing in the morning.
We did notice a slight thickening of her poos and they were two shades of green which was quite amusing!!
My HV was fine with us using two milks as she said that the hungry ones can be quite upsetting on delicate tums.
Maybe worth a try or discuss with your HV?
Just offer at the more hungry feeds..

Hi hun, I was exactly the same with my LO
He was so constipated there was blood in his stools and they was like little stones when he eventually passed. We tried him with water to help but he wouldnt take it.
We've changed him back on to sma gold & just put in extra ounce in his bottle. his poo is now bk to normal and he seems okay ..

hope this helps xxxx
