Hi all

Not been around for a while as we've had a terrible week or so with Toby. His feeding went from bad to worse and he's developed a very nasty chest infection. Thankfully, he seems to be getting well and we have got another plan with his silent reflux. The Dr we saw about his chest seems convinced he has silent reflux, one other suggested an intolerance but my feeling is that he would be way more sick with an intolerance and he's just not being sick. So we have begun to switch over to SMA Staydown milk as we have heard very good reports on it. Trying milk before any other medicine as I hate the thought of giving him more medicine!

Anyway, after that waffle! My question is... the SMA Staydown milk is a bit thicker so he's struggling to get it out of his Avent size 3 teats, we've tried the size 4 teats but he's still struggling a bit. Any advice? T doesn't seem to get on too well with Variflo teats. My other idea was to dilute the milk a bit more until he gets used to it. So when making up a bottle, add 1ozs more of water than powder scoops. Will doing this cause him any problems? I know we are not able to make his milk more concentrated by adding one more scoop but is the way I've suggested it dangerous for him too?

Also, we've never used SMA milks before and there is no leveler in the tub like Aptamil! Any ideas?!?!? LOL

Thanks for any advice. We are desperate! T seems to like his new milk so getting grumpy he can't get it!

I always hated the avent variflow teats. My boys got on so much better with tommee tippee variflows and the thicker milk (one of mine had reflux and we used comfort).

I wouldn't diute the milk. It';s not dangerous but he won't be getting enough nutrients (unless you have him on solids?)
