Help :( I am 21 weeks pregnant naturally after 4 years TTC.

I had early scans and a private scan at 16 weeks everything was ok she was bang on her dates.

At my 20 week scan this week I was told her head was measuring small and she had reduced fluid, this coupling with my bigger belly the sonographer found it hard to measure everything but babies belly, femur and bits inside the brain these were all normal size.

Today we have seen the consultant she wants me to have a amniocentsis test which we arent having just yet to look for disabilities. I was checked for leaking and I wasnt leaking any amniotic fluid. The only other problem will be kidney issues.

Has anyone had a similar experience had a healthy baby? We are out of our minds with worry and are right now just going for weekly scans. Our downs syndrome marker came back something like 1 in a million.

My toddler had small head measurements compared to the rest of her but she is perfect. Just petite looking and very like the rest of the family. I dont' know anything about fluid levels though. Although with my son i had a horrendous bleed and lose of fluid at 16 weeks bedrest for months and by the time he was born levels were normal. So i bet there is a good chance they could go up again. I hope everything is ok at your next appt.

with your fluids hun drink lots of water. I was told to drink minimum 2 pints a day after my waters reduced with ds1.. a week later they were back up to an acceptable and 2 weeks later were back to normal :)

as for the small head... if they have not been able to meausre other things they may not have got this as accurate as they could have hun. It only takes their measurements to out my part of a milimeter for them to knock the measurement right off. Have you been offered a re-scan? I would be inclined to decline the amnio until youv had a chance to try up your fluid levels and had a re-scan. xx

Aww Jenna, it's understandable you are worried. I wouldn't rush in to an amniocentesis. You mention you are having weekly scans? I'd be tempted to wait especially as the sonographer admitted she couldn't get a complete view.

My 20 week scan with my last baby took ages because he found it so difficult to get the measurements and I know a lot of ladies who have had to return at a later date for a better view xx

I had these issues but in two separate pregnancies. My daughter had a small head, and was measuring small in general, which worried the specialist because I had gestational diabetes. And with my youngest son I had low fluids found at 34 weeks during a growth scan with my specialist (checking up on me since I has GD with the previous pregnancy). I had low fluids for the rest of my pregnancy (delivered at 39+6) but he was healthy, no issues. Weighing 8lb 6oz.
