I was reading some reviews of smart trike, and a few people said that the smart trike was too small for their above-average (in height and/or weight) toddler. Is that true?

My girl is 19 months and taller than most kids her age. I have the opportunity to buy her a smart trike for cheap, but I wont be able to let her try it first (I would have to have my parents pick it up for me).
It would be a smart trike zoo, in case there's a difference between models.

Can't you pop to a toys r us/smyths/mothercare and try her out on a display model?

My 2yo is on the 50th percentile and is actually too short for his!! I've got the seat as far forward as it goes and he still can't quite reach the pedals

DS is 2 years 10 months, he's 50th centile for weight and between the 50th and 75th for height. He still rides on his smart trike comfortably, obviously with the supporty bit and handle taken off (so it's just a trike). I imagine he'll fit on it for a good while longer.

We don't have the same model as you're talking about, we have the safari, but I can't imagine there's that much of a difference. Anyway, my LO is on the tall side for her age and can't quite reach the pedals comfortably yet, so I wouldn't think it would be an issue.

Okay,

from what I read in the reviews, some people had problems with the safety straps not fitting or the pedals hitting the toddler's foot when using the foot rest. But if you say it still works at close to 3 years of age, it would still be worth our investment.

unfortunately I wouldn't be able to get to a toystore until the weekend, and I'm worried it would sell before that (it's a used one I found in online classifieds). I guess I'll buy it and if I don't like it, I'll just sell it back for the same price I paid.

If you're using the footrests rather than the pedals then you can just disable the pedals and fold them in and they shouldn't get in the way at all. I read a bunch of reviews before buying ours and I think the majority of the complaints are user error rather than an actual issue with the trike itself.
