My lo is 3 1/2 weeks old, and I have just expressed for the first time. I managed to drip quite a bit of it on me in the process, but have now noticed a strong yeasty smell. Is that the normal smell of breast milk?

I'm pleased at how easy it was to express though, and looking forward to hubby being able to enjoy feeding lo :happydance:

I dont like the smell of dried in breast milk not sure if i would describe it as yeasty but its definitley not nice. I am pretty sure it smells as it should.

To me, my breast milk smells like Aveeno brand oatmeal bath soaks.. LOL, so weird. I can't describe it. I just remember having that when I was younger for irritated skin and it reminds me of it so much. I don't know if I think it smells "yeasty", but it is pleasant. Not so much when he spits up though!

When my babies are very young my milk smells strongly like cut grass (yes really) but as they get older it smells a lot more neutral to the extent where if I leak onto my clothing it's pretty hard to tell if it's breastmilk or something else xx

Well, after spending a day in the fridge, the milk now has no smell. In going to express again in the morning so will see if it has the same smell again when fresh.

mine smelled like raisins most of the time. A lot of times, what you eat changes the smell. Onions are the worst. So bad, my boobs would smell like onions after the feedings.
