Smoke Alarm keeps going off randomly?

I woke up this morning about 5am to my smoke alarm going off? Obviously I CRAPPED myself and woke up in a panic, but when I checked everything was fine.

Now I just got back from work and as I'm sitting here it's just gone off again I haven't cooked anything at all or no electricals were on while I was out..

so does anybody have any clue why it's going off randomly? I was so scared when it woke me up this morning!!

could the batteries be dying? - this happened once at our old house, once the batteries were changed it didn't happen again?, worth a try anyway x

The batteries might be going in it. Ours used to do this when the batteries were going and we'd be searching for which alarm it was coming from!
If not, then it might have malfunctioned so it might be best to get a new one x

Ours did this last week but it would only beep once or twice then be silent for ages the go off again.

It was the battery.
