hi ladies, sorry to barge in but need to vent!
My cousin and her OH have been TTC for the past 6+yrs. They've been through so much and finally got their 1st lot of ivf last yr. The ivf never worked and the docs basically told them they'd never be able to have a family. So they've been gutted which obviously puts pressure on their marraige nevermnd the fact that me and her sister are both pregnant.
Well she's been going to a nurse for reflexology and she talked her into speaking to the docs again as she's never been given a reason as to why they can't have kids. Well she went and it turns out they were sent a letter 18 months ago (that they never got) telling them that the reason was down to cells surrounding the eggs being too thick. I'm not sure of the exact term for it but they've been told it's treatable!
I'm so happy for them but I'm gobsmacked the hospital are getting away with this! If they weren't such a strong couple they couldve been divorced by now!
Sorry it's long but I needed to rant! How can they get away with this? Not even an apology!

Oh honey - that sounds awful!

I know from experience that you have to push and push for treatment in this country - they seem to fob people off all the time and get away with it!!! It REALLY pisses me off!!

Glad to hear they will get treatment now x

I'd be taking further action - that's just horrible. :hugs: to them.

Lil C - that's really awful! I learned a lesson the hard way recently (not as hard as your cousin, so sorry!)

I had a chemical pregnancy last month and initially, when I was having powerfull preg. symptoms, the Dr. had me go for 2 quantitative HcG test 3 days apart to determine pregnancy. On both occasions, I had to phone the nurses at the clinic for my results (no big deal) and when I asked them to explain the no.'s and what they meant I was told that anything under 5 is a BFN. That's all they would tell me and when I pushed for further explaination they would simply keep repeating the BFN line! I was told that the Dr. hadn't seen my results yet and as such, hadn't commented on them. I was told that he would do so. No one ever called me.

I did some research, found an alternate GP (also a GYNO, yaaay!) I got an explaination of test results re: the chemical pregnancy. I had a fantastic and thorough exam, two pages of lab requests and a very empathetic ear!

I was so angry at the previous clinic and wondered how many of their patients accept that level of care and carry on without knowing all the details necessary to making personal and very important choices in their health care!

So frustrating but... I have learned that you really do have to be extremely proactive and assertive in this persuit.

xo

Groovygirl,
I totally agree, I have a weird blood which means My blood shows I'm anaemic all the time. All the doc does is gives me more iron tablets. I asked once if it's possible that I'm not actually anaemic and it just looks that way and the answer I got was 'it's possible'. Seems they'll say anything either because they don't know or they just want u out their room!:nope: X
